CHAPTER 8 A love triangle for Alex and Chloe? Oh that's just great.

Ria's POV

"Hey! New kid! Tim, right?' Just like Emily to say something like this, buoyant and dismissing, making anyone it was directed to feel transparent and unworthy. Luckily Alex tried to stop the damage.

"Emily! That's a horrible thing to say." Admonishing Emily, she turned, addressing Tim, who had made his way over from the bench opposite ours.

"Hi, sorry for my rude friend here. I'm Alex, this bum is Emily and that's Chloe, Ria, Cassie and Isabel." She said, motioning to us all in turn. I smiled, somewhat nervously.

"Alex." He said, softly, as if testing out the syllables. Bit weird, if you ask me. "I'm Tim, and not that new, Emily," he continued. But in a very clichéd way he never took his eyes off of Alex for longer than 3 seconds to glance at Emily. Emily, in her turn, looked offended. She probably expected him to fall at her feet because of her 'assets' as she's stated before. I mentally gagged thinking about it. Just yuck. Well, at least there were some boys out there with proper morals, even if Alex seemed to have taken the only one. It was quite obvious, even to me, that something was going on there. I just hoped it all turned out well.

"Tim!' Chloe suddenly gasped, running at Tim, looping her arms around him and burying her head into his neck. Who, in the middle of it all, had an expression of shock on his face.

"Uhh Chloe, right? Um wha-" he stopped. "Oh my god. Chloe" and then he turned weird and started to hug Chloe back, mumbling to her and rubbing her back in circles. The rest of us looked on in shock. What the heck? Obviously they had history, but this was... and Chloe? Acting that way? I seriously thought the only situation she'd ever react this way is she'd seen a horse back from the dead. Alex looked very hurt and I was very afraid for our lives because Emily was smiling sinisterly, looking back and forth between the embracing couple and heartbroken Alex, this is not going to end well, and I want no part of it. I already have problems to deal with, without this crap.

Startling out of my thoughts, I looked at Chloe and Tim. Is Chloe crying? What? Alex stood there, betrayal evident in her face, and Emily's expression and changed from plotting to sympathetic. Quietly she drew Alex into a hug and Alex just rested there, closing her eyes. Cassie was just staring in shock at Chloe, looking quite dumbfounded, and Isabel seemed to have slipped off somewhere.

Emily quietly drew Alex off somewhere. I looked sharply at her. 'Bathroom' she mouthed at me. Alex obviously needed to freshen herself up. Tim had drawn Chloe onto the bench where she sat curled up next to him. I looked at Cassie. Well, this was interesting. She drew me off to the side.

"What the heck?"

"I know, right? Drama central."

"Hmm. It's a bit like Rithan, you think?"

I stopped. "You made a SHIP NAME?"

"Well, technically that was Emily, but all the same."

"But still. A ship name. Just, Oh. My. God." I said disbelieving. Who were these people I associated myself with?
