I sit on a stool spinning a knife around my fingers listening to them.
"I was able to hack into the system, but there still wasn't any information on her." Felicity tell him making him visibly struggle to compress his anger.
He whips around to me, "You said that it was hacked by that system! Where is everything?"
I look up from my hands and I stop spinning the kunai, "I never said that there was anything left from my file, because there isn't."
"You lied." He growls.
"Actually I didn't. What I said was that my files got wiped using an United Nations grade security system. I don't know how you figured that my files still existed, because they don't." I tuck my weapon away into my pocket as he takes steps towards me.
"Then tell me your name." He says.
I tilt my head slightly, "Why does my name matter so much to you? I don't have family or distant realities, the closest thing I have to a relationship with someone other than death is Siris, which seems that death is a closer friend than him."
"If it's not important, then why are you hiding it?" Felicity chimes in.
I glare at her and she seems to get startled by that. "Because my new name is Alexandrea, and I don't wish to be called by my old name."
"Why?" Why? Why?! WHY?! WHY IS EVERYONE ASKING ME WHY?! WHY I DO THIS, WHY I DON'T DO THAT?! WHY SHOULD I TELL YOU?!
I close my mouth only to realize to just shouted that out loud. I cover it slightly and duck my head away from them. Not even my mind seems safe anymore. ....at least I didn't say these things out loud.
"I don't tell people my real name because everyone who called me by it is dead." I say darkly.
Felicity stands up and grabs Mr. Queen by his arm, away from me. "Can I talk to you for a second...alone?"
I'm a loose cannon. I should be put down. I'm useless and unloved. They should just hurry up and inject me with cyanide.
I feel a hand press against my shoulder and I repress the urge to stab their hand, "I'm sorry I've been pressuring you."
I glance up at Mr. Queen, so very confused, then I glance at Felicity who seems to be leaving. "I accept your fake and unfulfilling apology." I say not smiling.
He picks up one of my kunais from the counter, "That was one of the most clever things I've ever seen."
"Huh?" I ask confused.
"Roy and I thought you were just pulling your hair back, but you were preparing. And I never saw that coming." He says.
"Stop." I say backing away from him, noticing that both Felicity and... Roy left.
"What?" He asks confused.
"No. Stop. Just stop. This...isn't right. She told you to do this. None of this is true." I almost trip over a chair but he grabs my arm and holds me up right.
He stares at me and I see it in his eyes now...he thinks...he thinks I like him. No. Wait. WAIT! HOW DID I NOT SEE THIS BEFORE. They are trying to give me something to live for. Felicity must have told him something, and now they want me to stay or at least help them.
I grab his shoulder and pull myself up right, but he doesn't let go of my arm.
"Do you want to go get some dinner?" He asks...and sounds genuine.
I narrow my eyes and furrow my eyebrows, "Is that a joke?"
He smiles a half smile that could make a thousand girls swoon...and my twelve year old me blushes slightly. "It doesn't have to be anything special."
