Trinity's P.O.V

I pushed my loaded trolley along the bustling, crowded platform 9 3/4, keeping my eyes fixed on my brother, Sirius, who walked ahead of me. We reached the train just as the whistle blew, signalling that we would soon be Hogwarts bound. I could barely contain my excitement, this was my chance to show the whole world that I was not my parents, and that me and Sirius could be whoever we wanted to be. My heart was beating fast in my chest as I loaded my trunk onto the train, and clambered up onto the contraption, which steam was now pouring out of.
"Come on, Trinity, let's find a compartment," Sirius said, doing his best to keep the nerves out of his voice.
I nodded, and followed the stream of students that were strolling down the train towards the several compartments that were probably the place where I would make the friends that would last the rest of my life. This was it, there was no turning back now, I was going to Hogwarts.

We found a compartment with two other boys and one girl in it. Looking at eachother and nodding, we both entered the small room.
"Hi, is it all right if we sit here?" I asked, pushing the nerves to the back of my mind.
"Yeah, sure," the girl said, she had long, red hair and piercing green eyes, she was smiling, but also looked nervous, her eyes big and curious as she took in her surroundings.
"Thanks, I'm Trinity Black by the way." I said, taking a seat beside the girl.
"Lily Evans," she replied, giving me a cautious half-smile.
I took a seat beside her and Sirius sat next to one of the boys, who had introduced himself as James Potter.

As the train trundled along the tracks, I made friendly conversation with Lily, James and Severus (the other boy in our compartment). They all seemed nice, but Severus was slightly reserved, like he didn't want to talk to us, I shrugged it off, who cares if he didn't like me or Sirius, we would always have eachother, no matter what.

Soon, the conversation I always knew would come found itself in our midst. Houses. One of the most important things to any Hogwarts student - aside from quidditch of course.
"So, what house do you want to be in?" I asked, wanting to get to know my new friends a little more.
"Gryffindor, where dwell the brave at heart, like my dad." James spoke immediately, standing up to add dramatic effect.
I laughed, he smirked slightly before sitting down again. It was Sirius who then spoke up:
"All Blacks have been in Slytherin for generations, but Trinity and I don't want that, we plan on being an utter disgrace to our family." he said, chuckling at himself.
I rolled my eyes, Sirius was always a bit full of himself, no matter how many times I told him that having an ego the size of a large elephant wasn't attractive. He just laughed at me, his brown eyes glittering with mischief.

"What about you, Lily?" I asked, interested in Lily's view of things.
"Well, I'm muggle-born, so I don't really know about the houses," she explained, looking up to see my reaction at her blood status.
I wasn't stupid, from her stories, I could tell she was at least half-blood, if not muggle-born. I smiled, happy to explain the houses.
"Well, first you have Gryffindor, for the brave and daring, and Hufflepuff for the loyal, trustworthy and hard-working - they seem a bit stupid, but they're not, they just don't boast." I said, making sure she knew that the puffs weren't a load of duffers, like so many said, "And then there's Ravenclaw, for the witty and ready-minded, and Slytherin, for the sly and cunning, but lots of dark wizards come from Slytherin as well." I said as an afterthought, in my opinion, Slytherin was evil, but I couldn't be biased.

"Okay, well from that, I think Gryffindor sounds quite good," she replied, brushing a stray, ruby red lock of hair from her face. I smiled,
"Cool, what about you, Severus?" I asked the greasy-haired boy, whose head snapped up at the sound of his name.
"Dunno," he shrugged slightly, drooping down once again into his seat.
I looked away, he was a bit of a party pooper, if you ask me, he never really joined in with anything, but still, it was his choice if he wanted to act all miserable.

After that, we drifted into a comfy silence until the train stopped at the station, this was where the serious stuff began.
