RECAP

"Gabriel, this isn't any of your business. But you're a stubborn little piece of shit aren't you? Now, I can't let you out of here alive... Not if Noelle and I want to be together. Vater und kind, zusammen wieder einmal." He cocked the gun.

Gabriel pushed me the slightest bit more behind his back.

"M-Mr. Bauer, can't you see y-you're scaring Noelle. You wouldn't want her to run away again, right? K-" Gabriel paused to swallow, "killing me, wouldn't stop her. And she would hate you. Do you want your ch-child to hate you?"

"Of course not."

"Then why are you pointing that gun at us? At her?"

Mr. Bauer hesitated. His eyes went wide for the slightest second, then he frowned. He lowered the gun a little bit, but began to shake his head.

"Shut up. Shut up! I know what you're doing, boy. You won't stop me from taking what's mine. I told you, you know too much. Now you die."

BANG!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For a second, no one moved. The gun shot was the only sound that filled the space as we all stood in the middle of the football field. Gabriel stood beside me, his eyes wide, my arms still outstretched from having pushed him to the side.
Pain.
I felt it spread like thousands of tiny spiders were crawling from my shoulder. My arm lost all the strength it had to hold itself up and fell limply on my side. My body seemed to know what was happening before my mind did, being flung to backwards onto the ground.
"Noelle!" I heard Gabriel exclaim. "Oh god. Oh god. Hold your hand to the wound. You're bleeding, oh, you're bleeding. There, hold it tight." He was saying, and I felt his hand grab mine and press them into the wound.
I was bleeding? Really? It didn't feel like I was bleeding... But looking at the wound, I couldn't deny seeing the red liquid.
Pain.
"No. No." I heard close to us. A burst of energy spread through my body, and suddenly, the wound was the least of my worries. He was so close to us, just a couple of feet away.
"You did this. You did this! You moved, I didn't want to shoot her!"
"Noelle, no matter what happens... Keep pressure on the wound, okay?" Gabriel whispered determined, and yet the fear that laced his words was clear to me. He began to move away, a chunk of the ground in his hand.
Pain.
'No. No. Stay.' I silently begged him and reached for his sleeve. Mr. Bauer was looking straight at my bleeding wound, his eyes glazed over with a crazed gleam, and suddenly a wrong step in the soft mud made him stumble and cry out.
Like a raging bull, Gabriel charged straight at Mr. Bauer, hitting him in the face with the chunk, tackling him to the ground and knocking the gun out of his hands.
Pain.
Mr. Bauer was bigger and stronger than Gabriel, but Gabriel was faster and appeared more focused. When Mr. Bauer reached for the gun, Gabriel would knock it further from them. With experienced strength, Gabriel seemed to be holding his own against the bigger, mad man as he landed sure fists into Mr. Bauer's face. Mr. Bauer suddenly slammed his shoulder into Gabriel's stomach, who let out a pained groan, but recovered from the hard blow much faster than I would've thought. Mr. Bauer took the opportunity to fiercely punch Gabriel's cheek.
