"Yes, and it's not fair Maddie." Mr. Edwards said pouting. I turned around and was left in absolute awe. The girl standing there was ... beautiful, almost surreal. She smiled.
"You know that it's perfectly normal." She said walking to us; she stopped next to 'Matthias.'
"How was class?" He asked the girl, and swiftly placed a kiss on her mouth.
"It was good." She said to him and then turned to me. "Hi, I'm Madison Jensen. You are?"
"She's Noelle, my partner for the Parenthood project." Mr. Edwards said for me.
She smiled and chuckling said, "You must have so much patience to deal with that ugly little thing..."
"She doesn't mean that sweetie," he said hugging the baby.
"...and the baby," she finished.
"Hey! Ow, that hurt my pride." Mr. Edwards said shaking his head.
The girl passed a hand through her platinum blonde hair and took off the sunglasses that were covering her eyes.
My eyes widened. Her eyes were an almost white color, yet they were shockingly noticeable against her pale complexion. But what shocked me the most was not the color; it was the fact that her eyes were immobile.
She was blind.
"Hm, what a sudden awkward silence..." She suddenly said and then a look of realization fell upon her face, "She doesn't know I'm almost blind, does she?"
"Well, she does now." Mr. Edwards said shrugging.
"Don't worry, I can see...dark, blurry, almost unrecognizable shapes, but I can sort of see. How else would I have known where you were?" She said smiling. "Or which one of these idiots was my boy."
"Me." 'Matthias said then furrowed his eyebrows, "Hey, wait a second!" He grinned and grabbing her waist and pulling her close to him said, "That's really mean."
"Well, whatcha' gonna do about it?" She said making small circles with her head.
"Eat you."
"I'd like to see you try Mr. Tall, Dark and Handsome." She said switching to a high pitched voice. He growled and she laughed. He pulled her up and buried his face on her neck. She began to giggle and ...
Suddenly a hand covered my sight and Mr. Edwards said very seriously, "You're not old enough to see this."
I scowled at him, but decided to let his hand stay there.
"Will you guys get a room or a janitor's closet or something? You're making Noelle uncomfortable." Mr. Edward said. A moment later, his hand left my eyes.
"Thank you." He said at the now separated couple.
"Hey, Noelle, will you sit with us during lunch?" The couple asked at the same time, and began to laugh when they did it, "Jinx! You owe me a coke! No! Jinx!"
"Yeah, sit with us." Mr. Edward asked me grinning. When was the last time I ate with other people in school? Well, one lunch wouldn't hurt. Right?
I lightly shrugged. I ignored the sudden warmth that ran through me; the air conditioner was probably malfunctioning today. Suddenly a pale hand grabbed mine and pulled me to the cafeteria line.
"Guide me, Noelle. You boys go save us a table!" Miss Jensen said.
"No, Maddie, don't take her!" Mr. Edwards whined.
"Ah, shut your muffins."
Once we were in the line she turned to me and with a mischievous look on her face she said, "So, you and Gabe. I knew he went for the silent types. He's just so hyper all the time; he just can't stop talking sometimes, especially when he gets nervous. A quiet one definitely fits him." She chuckled.
