My King Part - 2

"My king is you Nik. Like I said earlier Kol you were my first love and we'll always share a special connection but I've not been in love with you for a long time. I moved on after hundreds of years pinning for you. Don't get me wrong here I love you and always will, your my bestfriend and family but I'm no longer in love with you. Nik when we kissed because of that dare Bekah gave me something about it wasn't right but it wasn't wrong either. It felt like something was missing, but more then anything I felt at peace and home with you the way I always have. I was so confused and scared for a really long time but deep down I think I always knew what would happen". They both seemed shocked but Kol also looked to be understanding something. "Is that what you meant when you said it would always be me it always had"? I was beyond confused and needed some more time to be alone so I walked away and to the little clearing in the woods.

***Niks P.O.V***
I woke up to the sounds of Nina coming home from a run. I grabbed our journal and wrote in it for a while. Just before I closed it Nina came in. I handed her the little book and she wrote a few sentences. While she wrote I noticed something was bothering her and asked what it was while putting the journal away. "I finally figured out who my king is but I have no ideal how to tell you guys or when to do it. I mean it obviously can't be today cause its Alex's birthday and I have a headache now". I laughed at her before taking het hand in mine and saying "take a deep breath love. Calm down everything is going to be fine. Gather all of us tomorrow and tell us then. Don't worry about the details just tell us the truth about how you feel, I promise it won't change anything between any of us I won't let it and neither will you". She did as I had told her to and snuggled into my side looking like she had relaxed while I was worried about who she had meant.

Before Alex's birthday party I went in search of my brothers, sister, Rick who I'd actually started getting along with, and Avery Ricks girlfriend. When I had found them I told all of them to meet me in the library. "Nina needs to tell us something. Elijah can you go fetch her for us". "Of course Niklaus, I'll be back shortly". He left and I sat down infront of a pile of books.

Nina had started to tell everyone who her king was and like I had suspected it came down to me and Kol. I know it's wrong but I was hoping with everything I had she'd chose me over him and break my little brothers heart like he had hers all those years ago. Before she could finish we all heard a scream. We all rushed to the sound to find Ben with a werewolf bite. Nina feed him her blood while I grabbed him a blood bag knowing he'd be hungry when he was healed. She helped him up and I gave him the bag. He only got a sip down before he passed out and Nina picked him up throwing him over her shoulder to take him to his room. While she did that the rest of us went back to the party but I still wanted to know who it was.

She finally got back just as Alex was blowing out her candles. She clapped with the rest of us and went to get Alex's present. I helped her with some of the bigger details but I couldn't really take any credit since I didn't really do anything. Of course Alex loved it but Lily was worried until she actually said the words. After that she walked outside and I approached Kol.

"Let's go find Nina and find out who her king is but first let's give her sometime to herself". He nodded and we watched Alex finish opening her gifts and checked on Ben before walking outside to find Nina.

She was on the porch with a glass of bourbon. She said it was nice of us to join her and asked if we couldn't of waited till tomorrow. Of course our answer was no so she told us.

I went into shock the second she said it was me so I didn't hear the rest of her speach and explaining. I didn't snap out of it until Kol asked me a question. "Yeah Kol that's what I meant. You seem to be accepting her answer pretty well". He shrugged and said "I know, it's just I guess I'm still trying to process all of it you know. I found out that she was in love with me, she isn't anymore, you're her king, you two have kissed, and that you make her feel safe, at home, and protected". I understood what he meant still feeling the shock running through my body. He left rejoining the party and I went for a walk to figure things out.

I walked for what seemed like forever but was only mere minutes. Eventually I found myself in the clearing with Nina. I sat down next to her and leaned back onto the ground. She placed her hand on minr not looking away from the stars once. I brought it to my lips kissing the top of it. She smiled finally looking down at me. I smiled back at her and she leaned down placing her lips on mine in a soft, gentle, and loving kiss. It was different from the first kiss we shared in some ways but both times I felt this kinda spark that made me not want to ever pull away but I knew eventually we'd have to.
