As I lay in bed that night I find myself wondering about Mali, I mean, sure she said some bad stuff about me, but did she mean it? I would say yes, but a part of me isn't so sure, we've been really good friends for a while, maybe I should just trust her. I'll talk to her later.
When morning comes I groan at the thought of school starting tomorrow, it's just too soon for that. I roll out of bed and I see Mali sitting on her phone, laying on her bed.
"Morning Zee." She says to me
"Morning." I monotonously reply.
"What's with you?" She asks
"Nothing." Except for those things you said about me to Sue.
"I could have sworn you went riding Snooker yesterday."
"Well, I didn't. I don't know why you would have thought it was me."
"Sor-ry, It's just that you've hardly been acting like your self lately."
"Okay, how about this. You find out the principal of the school you attend is your aunt, and she gives away your best friend to someone who abuses it. HOW WOULD YOU FEEL, YOU WOULD HAVE NO IDEA, BECAUSE IT DID'NT HAPPEN TO YOU!" I yell at her, then I head to the bathroom and have a nice long shower, using up all the hot water, so Mali heads to the other dorm to have a warm shower. I almost feel bad, almost.
Once I'm dressed and ready for the day I hear a knock at the door, so I ask who it is.
"It's Mrs Maple." Great, freaking great.
I slowly open the door and stand there with my arms crossed.
"What."
"Three new horses have arrived, and I want you to come and meet them."
"Whose are they?" I ask, I can't help talking to her, she's talking about horses.
"The schools, are you coming or not?" She starts to walk away, so I quickly follow her to the paddock. Standing in there is a gorgeous bay and white Clydesdale, an adorable fat white and black Shetland pony, and a chestnut and white (His face has a white stripe, and he has a white sock) Australian Stock horse gelding.
I can't help it, my mouth gawps open, the thoroughbred is gorgeous.
"The Clydesdale is Missy, the Shetland is Merlin, and the Stock Horse is Jack."
"Wow, they are all so cute! Where did you get them?!"
"The clydesdale and shetland are to help wow down the grass i some empty fields, and Jack is here to be ridden."
She smiles at me warmly, and even though we just got along just then it does not mean we are friends. I don't smile back, I just nod at her, and then head into the field towards Jack. I call out to him, his ears flicker in my direction and then he looks up. I walk towards him, with some green grass in my hands. He comes closer to me, eyeing the sweet grass, and then he munches it. While he does I feel his soft muzzle, and his beautiful mane that is flopping onto his face. (A/N Jack is a real horse, and he's so cute! Technically mine...)
"Hey Jack..." I quietly say.
He nickers at me, and then he nudges me, asking for more grass. I feed him some more, he's fairly greedy, and he gobbles down the food. Once he realises that I'm not going to give him any more food he starts to trot around me, making me laugh, not understanding his motives. I bid goodbye to Jack, and then climb the fence that surrounds the paddock. He gallops up to the fence, trying to come after me, but then he suddenly stops, realising there's a fence. He slumps back to Missy and Merlin, defeated, or so I thought. He then turns around and starts coming towards me at a fast pace, then he clears the fence, stopping right next to me. I gawp, I had no idea he was a jumper. Then he nudges me, asking for attention. I start to pat him, amazed at his feat, that fence wasn't low. I head to the tack room, then I grab a lead rope to lead him back into the paddock, until I realise that he's following me.
So I switch directions, heading into the paddock, then closing the gate.
"Stay here this time Jack." I sternly tell him.
He stamps his foot, and then joins Missy and Merlin.
I spend the rest of the day thinking about Jack, and how he could possibly be even better than Snooker, at least Jack has a caring owner. At lunch I sit next to Weslow, and she starts to tell me all about how Ghost got scared by a passing fox when they went riding, and dumped her into a muddy creek. I give her a half hearted laugh, not really listening to her story, my mind on Jack.
I spend the rest of the day with Cloudy, brushing her and sitting in the stall reading my book.
That night I fall asleep, dreaming about Jack, and that we went on a ride, and he grew wings.
