NASCAR or National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing. Racing was introduce during Prohibition time when bootleggers ran bootleg moonshine in the South (mostly in North Carolina.) Bootleggers were trying to sell illegal moonshine, they hid them into the trucks of their cars and when the police suspected that a person was selling them the bootleggers would try to outrun the police in their small cars. The bootleggers loved the speed they were going at and so the cars they drove had modifications made to them, so they can be lightened and reinforced.
