Early 1950s the US Navy put on duty Bill France Jr. at the Moffett Federal Airfield which is located in the northern part of California. Bill's father asked Bill to research Bob Birkhimer in Sam Jose, CA. Bob once was a star of midget car racing which was from the WW1 era, which then later in time ran in an estimated 22 different speedways which was in the head of the Californian Stock Car Racing Association. The young Bill came up with a relationship with Bob including his partner too, which is Margo Burke. Bill joined them with going to events, he even stayed weekends with the couple and generally became very knowledge with racing in the west coast. "Barky" or as his friends called him, he went to Daytona Beach to meet with Bill France, Sr. 1954 NASCAR became a stock car sanctioning body in the Pacific Coast under Barky.
Forget to mention: the people I'm writing about are important people in the founding of NASCAR. Next chapter is about Wendell Scott.
