The dead awakening

Chapter 8

We wake up the same as usual and eat a quick breakfast before we head out. These things are everywhere and we pick up what we can and hit in the heads with it. I find a shovel and plunge the spade deep into its chest and blood gurgles out of his chest before he clasped with one final blow. John looks up at me disgusted and worried and I am too for I did not even know I had it in me it was just a natural reaction. After the surge of them are dead and we are all bloody and sweaty we begin to run actors the sandy dunes in the peak of the hot sun. The sun stings our backs and with every step I get more and more exhausted but I know if we stop now we will surely die so I push us on. I look over at John who is panting and sweat rolls down the side of his face giving him a shiny glow. He looks up at me slowly and with all his effort tells me we need to stop and I don't argue with him for most of us are dead tired and dehydrated. We pass the water around and when it gets to me only one sweet cool drop comes out of it and I know we have to get moving or we will die for with out water there is no life. John?,I say, do you think this is worth it?" Yes Kathy I mean if it means we will get out of here alive and live normal life's trust me I bet everyone's aboard". He gives me a little smile and butterflies fill my stomach. This is a strange new feeling that I have never felt before and it intrigued me. I smile back and shyly turn around blushing and continue walking towards a black dot in the distance.

We reach this black building and it looks really actually nice because barley any of the windows are broken and there is more then enough room for everyone. Just in time too because it's starting to get dark and the sky is already a very light violet red color. We barge in the door and do a quick search before we settle in for the night. Now all we need to find is this so called exit out of hell. I open the book and a slip of paper peaked out of the left corner  of the book. I pull the page out and to my surprise it's some sort of portal and below the picture is a map leading to it. I closely examine it making sure not to miss a single detail and well I guess we are heading in the right direction. I motion for John to come over and he looks almost as stunned as me." Wow so there really is a way out". Yup all we need to do if follow the map out and everything will be alri...... All of a sudden out of no where those howlers crash through the windows attacking everyone. Blood starts to be sprayed everywhere and I know we have to get out of here now so John and I grab some of the people who are the scientists and two little girls and we run. We run for what seems forever and we run forwards to the setting sun and I hope this is the way. But all of a sudden I trip and fall, No not now I screamed and then all around me goes black.
