Chapter 8

"Do I look okay?" Sarah asked me for about the eighth time.

Scanning her body one last time, I nodded my head. "Yes Sarah! You look amazing, hot actually."

The real question was did I look okay. Dressed in a simple pair of skinny jeans and a hoodie with our school mascot on it, I was sure that I didn't look hot enough to be going to a party.

That's right, Sarah and I were getting ready for the Thanksgiving party that Justin had invited us to. I didn't want to go but I knew that it meant a lot to Sarah. Ever since the invite, she had been planning her outfit.

"And you like the shoes with this dress?"

I chuckled and playfully rolled my eyes. "Yes! You look amazing girl. Ten times better than I do let me just tell you."

"Don't say that you always look amazing." She walked over to the mirror in the corner of my bedroom and looked herself over one last time. When thoroughly satisfied, she turned around and faced me. "Alright, you ready?"

"As ready as I'll ever be." I mumbled as I climbed up off of my bed and headed towards the door.

Once down the steps, I grabbed my pair of dark gray Vans and slipped them on. Now my crappy outfit was officially complete. I looked like a slob but that's probably what everyone else was going to look like at the party. It was just a simple party around a bon fire and I assumed that a keg of beer would be there somewhere. It usually always is. Honestly I thought Sarah was overdressed but she still looked beyond amazing so I didn't say anything.

"Okay I have my purse, lipstick, and phone. I'm good to go." She sounded way too excited.

"Alright well lets go." I grabbed my car keys off of the table and headed out to my car. The drive wasn't far. The party had been moved to one of Justin's neighbor's houses so it was about a 10 minute drive to get there.

After hearing Sarah constantly talk about how her shoes didn't match her dress, we finally arrived at the party. We weren't late but you sure would think otherwise. Cars were lined all the way down the street as far as I could see. There weren't any more spots open on curb and I sure as hell wasn't going to park a block away and walk in the dark and freezing cold. Looking around, I decided to pull into Justin's driveway.

I was surprised that there were so many people there. People were already standing outside on the porch with cans of beer in their hands. I could hear and see the lights and music pumping inside, and a slight orange glow illuminated from the back of the house, indicating that there was a fire. I was glad about the fire because as soon as I got out of my car my whole body started shivering. I knew Sarah had to be cold

"HOLY shit. It's so cold out here." She whimpered and I could practically hear her teeth chattering.

"Yea it is. I have a jacket in the trunk. You wanna borrow it?" I offered.

"Nah I can't ruin this outfit with a jacket." She joked but I knew she was serious.

I nodded my head and we crossed the street. As soon as we started trotting through the front yard, people started giving dirty looks. That was honestly something I would just have to get used to. Everywhere I go people seem to look at me weird. I just didn't get it.

Climbing up the stairs, we walked up to the door and as soon as it opened, the loud music and smell of alcohol smacked us in the face. I was hesitant to enter but Sarah gave me a firm push.

"Come on now girl its cold out here." She yelled over the roaring music.

Stepping inside, I looked around to see if I saw any familiar faces. Of course I didn't. Just a bunch of people looking at me and my seriously overdressed friend.
