Roleplaying a hunter is rather easy.If you're looking for a case, or you just finished a case, check the Hotspot Board chapter for events around the country to investigate.
An example post to the Hotspot Board:
8.10.16: Three young women reported missing in St. Paul, Missouri in the last week, none found.
It will not tell you the exact creature that caused it, just the setting and location. It is the job of a hunter to travel to that location, with as many others as they care to bring along or meet up with. Once you get there you can start researching the case.
The case officially begins when someone roleplaying as a Creature causes another death, or attacks the Hunter(s). This confirms which creature it is, and starts the hunt to find and kill it.
Once the case is completed, you can pick up another one whenever you feel like it, or team up with someone else.
THINGS TO CONSIDER
To keep this roleplay as accurate as possible, please consider the following:
•Geographical Location: if you were last in California on a case and one pops up in Virginia or Florida, its probably better if someone closer to that area takes the case. Plenty more will pop up closer to you.
•Research: don't forget to roleplay as if it were a real occurrence! This means that there's no sudden goose rain, or a death that was clearly the result of a Buruburu (malevolent fear ghost) is suddenly caused by a possessed Pomeranian. Keep it realistic. This also means to consult the Grimoire to see how the specific creature behaves, and how to kill it.
•Buddy System: its always better with friends! Find a hunting partner to help you with cases, or team up with others in the area. Maybe someone needs help with a vampire nest, or needs you to burn the bones of a ghost while they keep it busy.
•Real Life: as often as possible, I will research deaths and supernatural happenings in real life, and translate them into the roleplay. That way, it feels like a legitimate experience. So if you find a case on the Hotspot Board with a specific name or geographic location, don't be afraid to Google it and see if it was a real occurrence. It might help you solve the case easier.
•Flying Solo vs. Party Mode: you don't need a partner to roleplay, and the opposite is also true. It could either be just two or three people roleplaying at once, or it could be up to twenty all around the country.
That's about it! Just treat it like its real life and you are actually hunting, and have fun with it =)
