"Well that was fun," Lauren shouted dryly. The music was almost deafening from where the girls were positioned on the stage. "I think I need a drink or a hit of something after that."
"Lauren..." Ally warned, her eyes suggestively darting in Camila's direction. The small younger girl was quiet and her pensive gaze stretching out into the distance, perhaps wishing for some far away place after the most recent nightmare. Lauren watched her for a moment, then shrugged and turned on her heel.
"I'm going to need something strong..." she murmured shakily to herself, not realising that an alarmed Ally had caught onto that last part. Ally's concerned glance flitted between the two girls as her body filled with dread. She knew how destructive Lauren could be when she couldn't cope with her broken emotions, yet she couldn't leave Camila standing frozen in shock and in dire need of some form of comfort or reassurance.
"Dinah, we need Mani. Right now," Ally requested, her tone laced with fear.
"Smallz, you need me to take over spinning?"
"Right now, if you can?" her voice less of a question and more of a demand.
"Yup, I'm on it girl!"
As Dinah headed over to the source of the music, Ally approached the frozen girl carefully. Apprehension in every movement, she tapped the girl on the shoulder. Despite her deliberately slow actions, Camila still jumped when she felt the contact. Wide brown eyes met almond-shaped ones, and before Ally could comprehend the emotions contained within them they filled with tears.
Camila practically fell into Ally's arms, sobbing uncontrollably and muttering "I'm so sorry" and "I'm so stupid".
Ally quite literally had her arms full with the younger girl. "Sweetie, what are you sorry about?"
Camila just shook her head and continued babbling incoherent apologies.
Ally gently clasped the girls cheeks and brushed her fingers through the soft brown strands that poked out haphazardly from Camila's head. "Darling, listen to me. You don't have to be sorry for anything," she soothed in an attempt to reassure the crying girl.
The girl continued to sniffle, but looked up with vulnerable, tear-filled eyes. "I-I d-don't?" Despite her question being two words in length, she stuttered and stumbled over it, making it slightly difficult to even make out her smothered words.
Ally could easily see how the green-eyed Latina had become so infatuated with the adorable girl before her. There was a certain fragile innocence that seemed to come along with Camila and the was no denying how endearing her cute antics were. If Lauren hadn't have spent so much of her life in love with the young Latina, Ally would certainly have made a move by now. But she was content in letting her friend finally be happy for once; that is, if she didn't destroy herself first.
"Hun, it's not your fault that any of this happened. You don't control what he says. In the end, he is just a jealous ex. You should be proud to be you and be free!"Another sniffle and a short sigh followed before Camila nodded.
She was still clinging to Ally by the time Normani arrived with a concerned glint in her eye.
"What's happening Ally? What's wrong?"
"Lauren," she let the single solemn word speak for itself. Normani's expression transformed into one of panic as a sense of foreboding manifested in the pit of her stomach. Ally's grave tone seemed to translate into Camila's mind as the youngest of the three attempted to comprehend the gravity of the confusing situation.
"Where is she?" Normani demanded gruffly, the bite of her tone stemming from the fear that clutched her heart. "Fuck!" Normani screamed. "Where the hell did she go?!"
