chapter 7: what the hell?!
I pour everyone tea, and apparently none of them have had proper British tea save for Mandy, who had come over before.
"Damn, this is good" says Ryan. I still find his humourous in his Buddha costume.
"Carroling! Why wasn't I invited?" I ask calmly.
"Mandy said you were busy, and I guess you were" says Jessica, grinning at Tristain. He smiles back at her.
"Mandy was correct then" he looks smug.
"So how'd you two meet?" asks Alex, sounding rushed and quick, rather than subtle and casual.
"Close family friends, like I said before. He was there when I was born, really" I say.
"Do you remember it?" asks Ryan.
"Yeah, I was six. Little baby Lila was soo cute" he grins at me with his direct blue stare and I blush. Alex sees this and I think he gets more...angry? The hell was wrong with him?
"You were six when she was born?!" Jessica says, her large gray eyes widening. "That means you're...seventeen plus six...twenty three?!"
"Damn, you're ancient" says Mandy. Ryan wolf-whistles.
"Lila's scored an older guy. A hot older guy" he whistles some more.
"Thank you" says Tristain.
"So why now?" asks Alex.
"We've had this love hate relationship, and there's usually a thin line between them and I think we finally tipped over. I still hate him though" I glare at Tristain's goofy, cocky face. I'm not ready to forgive him for lifting me up like that earlier. Even if he is rich now.
"Aw, that's sooo adorable" Jessica coos.
"Can I have more tea?" asks Ryan, readjusting his orange robe.
"Yeah, I'll just reheat what's left over in the pot" I say.
After that, we hang out for a bit before they have to leave. I still don't understand why Alex was mad. What could I have possibly done?
They don't leave nicely, of course. Ryan gives us perverted suggestions, Jessica blushes and tells us our babies would be beautiful, and Mandy warns us to have safe sex. Why do my friends have to be so odd? it's not like we'd bonk each other tonight! Or any night soon. Alex left like a normal person, waved goodbye and walked off.
"I like your friends" says Tristain the second I close the door.
"That's because they love you" I retort, "And you're British accent. If you weren't British, they'd murder you"
"Is that so? I'll just have to ask them then. I think it's because of my muscled and hot body" Tristain gestures to his upper body with a grand air. "Can't believe it's true. That anyone can be this good looking"
"Arrogant little bastard" I sigh, cleaning up the tea cups and saucers. "Oi, clean up the tea kettle, will you?"
"And I am her slave" he obeys.
"So what about that game of chess?"
"I remember, as you don't, in the haze of your dreams that you admitted that I was the champion. I dont' see a need to play to prove myself now"
"Fine" I sigh, "I didn't have a chance anyway"
"Admitting defeat! She admits defeat!" He does his victory jig, which is very humiliating, and starts humming delightfully.
