chapter 21: leaving the cabin (I come up with bad chapter titles, sorry)

Tristain's POV

I wake up to her sleeping off my chest. She really is beautiful. Her short dark hair is growing a bit longer and splays on my bare chest. I had taken my shirt off in the middle of the night, finding the fabric irritating. I can't wait to see Lila's surprise when she wakes up.

Her soft gentle breath tickles my skin and I watch a bead of drool slide down the corner of her mouth. I take my jumper from my bedside and wipe her mouth with the sleeve. She doesn't say a word.

I feel like a creep, watching her at this early hour. But I can't help but to admire her. I run my hand up her shirt, resting on the small of her back (as she's sleeping stomach side down) I avoid looking down her chest, as her nightie allows me to. But I do and I'm feeling a little lustful. I know she's not ready for anything more, and I'm willing to wait. Yet she doesn't have to drive me insane like this.

She doesn't weigh much at all, yet just enough to make me feel nice when she sleeps with her whole body on me. Like we were meant for each other.

Lila's steady breathing stirs, and she stretches her legs, shooting them out and straight. Her chest presses hard against mine as her arms stretch out wide as well. Yawning loudly, she peeks her beautiful eyes open right into mine. They widen and she quickly puts her hand to her mouth, checking for drool.

"Don't worry" I whisper, as Eric and Liam are in the bunk beside us, "I wiped it off"

She blushes a gorgey shade of pink and bites her lip, our little habit. It turns me on. God, I've been nothing but touchy ever since we got together, snogging every chance we get. I don't want our relationship to be based on the physical aspects.

Nonetheless, I kiss her gently, just a quick press of our lips. She pulls away.

"I have bed br--I mean, bad breath! You can't kiss me!"

"I just did" I sigh, stroking her hair with my other hand. She realises my palm is resting on her back and blushes even more, moving her head so her hair hides her face.

"Aw, Lila's so adorable when she blushes" I tease.

"Shut up" she mumbles. I wrap both my arms around her, pressing her to me. She lets out a little "oof" and then settles more comfortably.

"I love you" she sighs. My ears and heart never get tired of hearing her say that. I love it. I love her.

"I love you" I say as my jaw moves against the top of her head. We don't fall asleep, but just lie there until the sun shines through the windows across the bedroom.

"Come on. As they say, the early bird gets the worm" she says, sliding off me. I miss her warmth already.

"What's the worm, in this scenario?" I ask.

"A beautiful day"

"Every bird will get one, not just the early ones"

"Shut upp" she laughs, "God, you're awful"

"Thank you, love" I reply. I love annoying her like this. Old habits are hard to get rid of. Lila makes tea and we drink some as cool air wafts in from the open window beside the table.

"Now all we have to do is New Years. You leave the day after, right?" she asks.

"Yeah, but don't worry love. I'll visit when I can, and you can come visit during summer vacation. Visit the Oxford campus if you'd like"

"I'd love that. Say hi to all my old mates. I've missed them terribly"

"We could do that as well. And vacation too. You speak Spanish, don't you?"
