Dear Reader,
I cannot describe the feeling I have right now as I just laid to rest the final chapter of "The Artist."
It's not just "The Artist" that I finished and put to rest but all of my characters from "The Perfect Partner" and "The Artist and His Muse" combined. It's a bittersweet feeling for me. But I'm also glad it's finished.
To be honest, TPP was so incredibly easy to write. I feel that I understand (though I never fully will because...well...I don't know him personally) Taehyung more than any other member of BTS. He and I are a lot alike in a lot of ways (from everything I've seen and read). So I related to him more. That made TPP almost a breeze to write. However, TA&HM was much more difficult. Here's why.
#1. Jungkook.
Let's face it. The boy is a walking contradiction. He's a child in a man's body. You never know how he's going to react to people. One minute he maybe be interested and caring and the next he's aloof and indifferent. He's definitely a mystery to me. While I had a pretty easy time writing him in TPP because in that book he was younger, I had to think of how an older JK would be for TA&HM and so many times I confused myself. \(☆o◎)/#2. The dark nature of most of the chapters.
I didn't really set out to write a story about abuse and trauma. To be honest, I know very little about those sorts of things. I probably misrepresented them both in very awful ways and I sincerely apologize for it. It was just how the story lead me. I couldn't change it no matter how hard I tried. These two (so simple) things were what made this book so frustrating to write for me. So many times I wanted to scream because the story wasn't going how I planned or how I wanted it to go. It took on a life of its own almost to be honest. You have no idea how many times I just wanted to scrap the whole thing and forget it even existed.
You readers kept me writing though. So many of you became invested in this story and I had to finish it, if just for your sakes.
So today we say goodbye to JenTae, YeonKook (still undecided about this one lol) Sara, RapMon, Jenna's parents, TK, the whole crew. I think all of my other writings will always have a small shadow of these first two books hanging over them.
It is with great pleasure I say good riddance to my villain characters, Matt, Soohyun, Soojin / Junmi , and Jin Soo. I wrote you all with great disgust in mind. I'm glad to see you gone.
Ah well, reader, its hard for me to say goodbye. I poured a lot of heart and soul into these two books. But, all good things must come to an end. And hopefully I will see all of you in my future books. If you have any questions for me about this book or TPP please leave a comment on this chapter. I thought about doing a Q&A for any of the characters also if any of you had any questions for them. But it depends on how many questions I get. Haha! (but I really think it would be fun!!! *hinthinthint*)
Reader, thank you for sticking it out and reading both of these books of a rookie author. I owe you all a great deal of love and apparently tissues. I'm sorry for making you cry, scream, "asdfghjkl" all over your keyboards and phones, and ride the roller coaster of feels. It was never my goal to make you suffer.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. You are all appreciated, whoever and wherever you are.
Sincerely,
Avid_Rdr
