CHAPTER 12:
***
As I walked closer and closer to the note a pounding in my chest started so fast It was getting hard to breathe.
Just as I was about to come eye to eye with the death letter, the door flung open.
I jumped back and stabled myself, ready for a fight.
However, to my disbelief it was my mom. Wait, what?
"MOM!" I screamed as I ran toward her to give her a big hug. I started to choke up but then realized she was gasping for air while trying to put the now falling groceries on the counter.
"Sorry..." I mumbled trying to pick up the fallen groceries with no avail because of my now humongous belly.
" Max, are you alright? Oh get off the floor I'll pick it up." She said as she grabbed me by the arm and pulled me up.
All of a sudden I started balling my eye balls out spewing out what happened and how I thought she and the flock had been kidnapped by Itex while all along having a huge glob of saliva blocking my air way making my words come out gurgled.
My mom detached me from her shoulder and gave me a little shake indicating to look up at her.
"Honey, I know your a really tuff person," she started," but just so you know your just getting really upset and emotional due to the baby. There's nothing to worry about. Also, about the incident this morning, the flock was in a huge rush to get started on the trip due to a late wake up call and I was called in early for a animal emergency. I left a note on the table. Didn't you read it?" She asked.
Suddenly I felt ashamed. I put my head down. I had turned everything into something when it was really nothing.
"Ummm no..I kinda thought it was a death letter from Itex..WAIT!" I screamed popping my head up so fast. "The flock went on the trip WITHOUT ME?!" I raged, feeling a new emotion called being left out.
"Well honey, you are obviously in no condition to be flying around and fighting." My mother said while brushing a piece of hair from my face.
"But-"I stopped realizing what she said was 100% true.
"Oh they'll be fine." My mother comforted me while pulling me into a hug and placing her chin on the top of my head.
"I know..." I barley whispered as the last tear slid down my cheek and hit the floor.
