I woke up on my bed, the comforter contorted to my body under me.  I sat up groggily, rubbing the sleep from my eyes.  I look down to the floor and I see Yami curled into a tight ball on the floor.  He kept trying to pull his legs tighter against his body, he was clearly freezing.  I got up and grabbed a blanket from the closet which was farther down the same wall the door is.  I grabbed the thickest one I could find and carefully draped it over his freezing form.   He immediately snuggled into it, seeking heat.  I looked over to the clock on my bedside table, the clock face read 6:30 AM.

I flopped down on my bed and grabbed my phone from the bedside table.  I unlocked it and scrolled through Instagram until I could feel my eyes grow heavy again.  I clicked it off before closing my eyes once more, dreaming of sugar plums and gumdrops.

Ah, Christmas Eve.  Yami and I have been preparing for this day all week!  Well, we watched my mom get prepared for it all week, but that was still a lot of effort on our part.  Every year on Christmas Eve we decorate the tree and open one gift.  Yami and I were seated in front of the Christmas tree, waiting for Tom to bring the ornaments down from the attic.  While we waited, we guessed what was going to be in each box.

"That one is clearly a video game."  Yami said, pointing to a rectangular package.

"Nah, it's totally a movie.  The box is too thick to be a video game."  I said, tossing popcorn into my mouth.

"No way, I was thinking just the opposite, it's too thin to be a movie."  He said as I tried to throw popcorn into his mouth while he was talking.  "Cut that out."  He said swatting at me.  I laughed as Tom came down the stairs with a big box in his arms.

"Ladies, ladies your both beautiful."  Tom said setting the box down next to us.  Aaron and I immediately tore it open ad looked inside.  It was filled pretty much to the brim with colorful ornaments with shiny silver hooks.  Yami pulled one out of the box and examined it.  It was one that had my whole family in it, me, my mom, my dad, and my big brother Tom.

"Wow, you were a cute baby."  I beamed.  "But now, I dunno..."  He trailed off with a huge smile on his face.

"Oh, shut up."  I said shoving him as he laughed.  I grabbed the ornament from his hand.  "I think I'm adorable."  He ruffled my hair.  "I guess you could say that."  He said still smiling.  We grabbed at the items in the box randomly.  Hang this one here, that one there.   I had just hung up a Christmas tree in the back and when I came around to the front to pick up another, I saw Yami on his tip-toes, trying to reach a branch that was sticking out towards the top.  I smiled as I walked over to him.

"Need any help?"  I asked.  He had his tongue sticking out in concentration.

"Nope, I've got this, under, control."  He said trying to stretch himself just a tad more to reach the top.

"Aw come on Yami, I'll lift you."  He raised an eyebrow at me as he settled himself back on the ground.  He was a good several inches taller then me, but I'm sure he can't be that  heavy right?

He smirked.  "Ok, I'll give you ten bucks if you can help me lift that."  He said pointing to the branch.  I smiled.  "You're on."  He stood in front of the tree, waiting for me to lift him.  I stooped down and wrapped my arms around his waist and started to lift.  Ok, maybe he's a little heavier then I thought he'd be, but no matter.  These guns won't let me down!  Or maybe they will.  I got him about half way up before I had to drop him.
