Part 16: Plan In Action

I step into the school hallway the next day. Time to put the plan in action.

Maya's POV
I finish fixing my notebooks in my locker and close the door. I turn around and see Riley. "Hey Riles" I say.
"Heyyyyyy" she says, kind of, um, weirdly.
"Uh...Riley? Are you okay..."
"Yah yah Maya I'm fine."
"You're hiding something..."
"No..."
I give her a look. Riley starts speaking.
"Listen, I really think that it was a good thing you pushed me in the subway that day."
I smile. She continues, "I don't think that the important things in our lives aren't supposed to happen on their own."
"Uhuh..."
"And see,look what happened when I just simply fell down the stairs without you or anyone pushing me, it didn't work out."
"Well," I say, "I'll always be there for you."
"No matter what?"
"Yup"

Riley's POV
I hear Maya answer with a simple "yup" then get a bit distracted.
I look down at my watch. Miles is running late.
Oh no.
Wait.
I see him coming.
Ready or not.
Wait, Maya just pushed me impromptu, like it just happened.
I planned this out.
What if this won't work?!
Oh my god.
What am I thinking?
Of course this will work!
But what if it doesn't...
Riley stop thinking to yourself.
Just go with the flow.
What ever happens, happens.
Go back to reality.
Okay myself.
Let's do this.

Maya's POV
I finish talking then realized that Riley has already zoned out.
Well whatever.
I start to walk to class when Riley runs after me and spins me around.
"Maya, you understand what I said?"
"Of course!"
"And you know whatever happens, we will always be in each other's life, right?"
"Mhmmm?"
"So...you'll forgive me right?"
"For what?"
"This"
"Riley what are you..."
My sentence gets cut off by Riley suddenly pushing me.
I get pushed backwards so fast I almost fall. But...
I didn't realize that we were at the edge of the stairs. Of course.
Why hadn't I seen this coming.
I start falling. Of course someone catches me.
Guess who.

Riley's POV
I see Miles turn into the stairs. I run to Maya who has already started to walk away and spin her around.
"Maya, you understand what I said?" I ask her.
"Of course!" she answers.
"And you know whatever happens, we will always be in each other's life, right?"
"Mhmm?" I can tell Maya knows something is up. Better go faster.
"So...you'll forgive me right?" I ask, cautiously.
"For what?"
"This" I say.
She starts to say something but gets cut off by me pushing her.
She's falling. I start to second guess myself.
Oh my god. What did I do?
But then I get pretty confident again.
And yes, all these thoughts happened in a matter of seconds.
But of course someone catches Maya.
She look up at him.
He looks down at her.
Guess who. Duh.
Then she says to Miles, "Heyyyyyyyy"

I know this is a REALLY weird part but seriously, it's kinda awesome ;)
