Trumpets played, announcing the arrival of Tris and Tobias. They appeared moments later, walking side by side, arms brushing, Tris wearing a gown fit for a queen, and Tobias the same only as a king.
Tris' dress was gold and lacey, sparkling under the natural light that was pouring in. Tobias, in a tux with a gold tie. His eyes trained on his mother who stood patiently by the thrones, her hands tucked neatly in front of her.
Tris and Tobias both stood in front of their thrones moments later, giving their attention to the queen. "Ladies and gentlemen," she said, her voice overpowering much of the silence in the room, "I do present you Tobias and Tris, and it is my greatest pleasure to announce them your king and queen." She stepped back, allowing crowns to be set upon their heads.
Later, the court of the palace was full of mermaidens and mermen, all dressed up and celebrating the coronation, bright futures planned for them.
A few hours before midnight, Tris and Tobias escaped the partying to go to their room.
