"I'm pregnant," Tris told Tobias one evening, his nose buried in some papers, glasses sitting on the bridge of his nose.
"What?" He asked, looking like what humans call a deer, or a seahorse in their case.
"I'm pregnant?" she said, quieter now, wincing slightly.
He squealed, jumping up and barreling straight towards her, slowing down right before he hit her. "We're going to have a baby!"

"Aww, look at my little baby boy!" Tobias whispered, rocking him in his arms. "Rest easy, baby. I've got him," He told his love, pushing the sweaty hair back from her forehead, her eyes glassy and unfocused. He had the nurse carry their son back underwater from the special hospital that sat right on the ocean just for the mermaids that needed it. He grabbed his Tris and took her home, where she belonged.
