[3]/REYNA/:

As she walked the halls, Reyna made a mental note not to go near Rachel Elizabeth Dare ever again.

Okay, okay, maybe the she was overreacting. But she had seen the look Rachel gave her, and it was anything but sugary sweet. Reyna knew Rachel was genuinely a nice, funny person, with a few flaws and unattractive traits, like lying excessively and being judgemental.

She was walking through her dorm when someone grabbed her arm. She tried not to panic, throwing them off her and slamming them into the wall.

"Ugh, Rey." Jason Grace, her best friend moaned.

"Holy crap, Jason, I'm so sorry." She apologized profusely, releasing him. She only had a soft spot for the adorkable blonde haired boy in front of her.

"Give me a heads up next time?" Jason offered meekly.

"How can I do that when you sneak up on me?" Reyna challenged him with a small smile.

Jason laughed, hugging her quickly. "God, Rey, I missed that sassiness."

Reyna lingered after the hug, on Cloud Nine. "I missed you too." She said softly.

"I have a present for you in your dorm." Jason grinned like a six year old on Christmas. "Bye!" The blue eyes boy that captured Reyna's heart ran off.

Reyna strolled cheerfully to her dorm. Last one there, but her friend Gwen had known to save her usual bed by the far window, looking out on the boy's dorm. If Jason had the same dorm, they would be able to see each other and talk like they had last year.

Her friend Gwen was in the dorm with her, as was Clarisse La Rue, a tall girl that Reyna admired for her strength. But Reyna's delight faded as she saw the prim, pampered, already made bed of Annabeth Chase.

'It's not that bad,' she told herself. 'You have Gwen and Clarisse.'

Pushing the thought out of her head, she spotted a badly wrapped parcel by the door. With a grin, she grabbed it. She tore the paper off it to find a picture frame.

The frame was gold and swirly, but that wasn't what Reyna found awesome. The picture was of her and Jason, making ridiculous faces. She laughed out loud, taking the picture to her bed and making it the first thing she set up.

She took her iPod out next, plugging it into her speakers. She put on her messed up playlist of The Lumineers, Daughtry and The Beatles.

Reyna laughed carelessly, spinning and twirling, dancing around her room and unpacking. Once she was done, her euphoria was over. She sighed, happy. Not knowing what to do, she grabbed her headphones, blasting Waiting for Superman as she walked the halls.

She was going in search of Silena Beauregard's dorm- if anything, Clarisse was there. If she wasn't, then the two troublemakers were surely wreaking havoc in the school.

As she reached Silena's dorm from last year, she hesitated, not wanting to knock. She heard angry voices, one of which she recognized as Thalia Grace.

Thalia was nice enough to Reyna, and once tried to set up Jason and Reyna on a blind date, which Reyna was ecstatic about, but then Jason had gotten sick. It had never happened.

Just as she was about to leave, her foot hit the door and it creaked open. "Hello," she offered to two surprised faces.

Yeah, that was Thalia. And the girl beside her? Piper McLean, the popular girl with a penchant for pranks.

"Hi, Rey." Thalia greeted.

"Hey Thalia." Reyna responded, deciding in a quick second that she would be the mediator of their issues. "What's wrong?"

"It's nothing, Rey," Thalia said calmly, and turned to Piper. "Any rules?"

Piper smirked. "None at all. Six months is all it takes."

"What are you talking about?" Reyna asked, curious. She flopped down on a beanbag chair.

"Just a friendly competition," Thalia's lips twisted into a wicked smile. "A few tasks here and there, to see who's more popular."

Just as Piper and Thalia were about to plunge back into their own conversation, Reyna jumped in. "Count me in," she said quickly.

"You?" Piper gave her a once over. Reyna felt like a insignificant intruder.

"Yeah, me." Reyna challenged. "And I can recruit someone else into this. Annabeth Chase. She'll be desperate."

"Challenge accepted," Thalia said with a smirk. "Thalia, Piper, Reyna, Annabeth. The four of us."

"I vote we get an archery bitch in on this," Piper said with an evil grin, and Reyna winced at the language.

"Not Zoë," Thalia said, and Reyna wondered why she agreed to this in the first place.

"No. Maybe a recruit," Piper volunteered.

"I'll find someone. Reyna, you get Annabeth. We'll meet on the roof at two am." Thalia decided, walking out of the room.

Reyna looked over at Piper, who stared back. "So I heard you like Jason," Piper said, twirling her hair passively.

"So what if I do?" Reyna challenged defensively.

"Just saying, you might have some, ah, competition." Piper winked and strutted out of the room. Reyna rolled her eyes.

"Nice try!" she called out, just to get the last word.

And as Reyna walked off in the opposite direction, she could hear Piper's laughter echoing from a distance.

Reyna blasted Ho Hey on her iPod (attached to her headphones) on the way back to her dorm. Just as the song ended and she was turning off the music, she opened the room to her dorm.

There was Clarisse and Chris Rodriguez, the latter shirtless, passionately making out on Clarisse's bed. Reyna froze in shock before slowly backing out. Just as she was about to close the door, Chris noticed her and jumped up. "I'll be going now," the dark haired boysaid cheerfully, pushing himself off of Clarisse and grabbing his shirt. He dashed out of the room.

"Not a word, Ramirez-Arellano." Clarisse threatened, fixing her messy hair. Covering up love bites, the large girl repeated herself. "Not a word."

"Course not," Reyna said, slightly shocked. "But Silena-"

"I've moved on."

"Oh yes you have," Reyna mumbled under her breath.

"Not a word," Clarisse glared at her, shooting daggers, and marched out.

Reyna sat on her bed, happy for some alone time. As though she had mentally jinxed it, the door was flung open.

There, standing there, was Piper, Thalia, Annabeth and a girl Reyna didn't recognize. "Come with us!" Thalia said, a smirk playing on her pink lips.

Knowing she was signing her soul away, Reyna followed.

They moved fluidly in a group together, in unison, gracefully and all at once. Due to the competition, Reyna knew this would be the last time they would work as a perfect, synced team.

They stopped at an unused, abandoned dorm. Reyna sat on a chair, Thalia perched on the edge. Annabeth sat and leaned against a bed, Piper sitting on the edge and braiding the blonde's hair.

"Reyna, this is Bianca," Annabeth said, her face clear, stoic. Reyna glanced at Bianca. She had brown hair in a braid, a green cap on, dark eyes and an olive complexion. She also had a temporary tattoo on her hand- the symbol of an archery recruit.

"Hi," Bianca smiled, and Reyna wondered vaguely how on earth this little girl would survive competitions against Thalia.

"Right. Vandalism, allowed, pranks, allowed, war, allowed, death, unallowed." Annabeth recited.

"Not allowed," Reyna corrected.

"Hmm?" Annabeth looked genuinely confused.

"Not allowed, not unallowed," Reyna explained haughtily. Annabeth gave her a death glare with her stormy grey eyes.

"But what about these tasks?" Bianca jumped in, interrupting the two.

"Tasks?" Annabeth questioned, pursing her lips.

"We're going to have students submit tasks for us all to do." Piper said, too quickly for Reyna's taste.

"Then it's settled," Reyna said calmly, looking at the other four girls. After this, they were enemies.

As though her words were a cue, there was a sharp rap on the door.
