🐯Sophie's P.O.V.🐯
So the hostility between mine and Connor's dads has not gone down at all. Although they have learned that they can't be outright hostile. Instead they've resorted to acts of the more passive aggressive sort. It's funny, actually, to watch two alphas hide their anger and dig at each other by means of nice insults.
"No wonder you never travel. Why travel when you have no reason to fear people's allegiance?" Connor's dad says to my father.
"Well, you see, I take it as the fact that I'm strong enough to keep enemies at bay. Seeing as you've so graciously asked me to help defend your lands before, I believe you understand what I mean."
Connor and I decided to stop trying to break apart their ego fueled arguments a while back. Instead we took seats beside our mothers. We are currently Separated while our mothers are in an excited conversation about grandpups.
"I'll have at least one very soon. My first child, Greyson, and his mate are pregnant." My mother says with a proud posture.
"Oh how adorable, you'll have little feet everywhere when their pup is born. I can't wait for Sophie and Connor to have tiny pups. They'll be so cute, considering how adorable their parents are." She smiles and squeezes Connor's cheeks, and he turns to plead with me.
"I'm still very young, Luna." I say, squeezing Connor's hand.
He gives me a gentle squeeze back and turns to his mother. "I have promised Sophie that I won't rush her and that I'll let her choose when she wants to start having pups."
His father grunts and drinks from his glass before speaking. "You're an alpha. You choose when you want pups. Not her."
"You're right, I am alpha. That means what I say goes. I said she could choose. You have no right to tell me what to do anymore father." Connor says to his dad.
I watch his father sit there, getting more and more red faced as time progresses. His mother takes it upon herself to try and calm him down, but fails.
"She's going to control you boy. Then her father will control you too." His father stands up and stares at me with an angry glare.
Connor slowly gets to his feet and stands before his father. "She'll control what she wants to control, and she won't let her father control her. Neither will I." He takes a step forward and his father backs up. "I don't want to fight you dad, but I will. You have no right to say anything about my mate."
His dad stands there staring at him, then forces himself to look at me. "I apologize, Sophie. Please forgive me." It sounds like someone is clawing his back as he says it, but he does.
I nod my head at him. "I forgive you." Connor holds out his hand to me and I take it. "This isn't what this holiday is about. We should be giving thanks for what we have. Not arguing."
"She's right." My mother says. "Why don't we all go get ready for dinner? Give ourselves time to calm ourselves, and to dress appropriately." She looks at me, in my jeans and t-shirt.
We all agree and head to our respective rooms, all except Connor. "You handled that well." He says as we walk arm in arm.
"I just said whatever would shut them up, but in a nice way." He chuckles and we remain quiet. It doesn't take long to get to my room, but as I try to go in, he grabs my hand.
"I'm sorry for my dad. He can be old fashioned and uptight. He'll see how great of a woman you are and will get over it."
I feel a warm pull in my heart and lean onto his chest. "I don't care what he thinks of me. Only you." His fingers delicately lift my chin until I'm looking into his eyes.
"I won't let anyone talk down to my Luna. Not even my father." His fingers rest under my chin and the tingles begin to make my jaw feel numb, a good kind of numb.
Connor glimpses down at my lips several times, and I get up on my tiptoes to meet his own with mine. "Thank you." I whisper after the small kiss. I take a step back, still facing him. "Now go get ready for dinner. I'll see you down there."
"You'll see me standing right here when you're ready to escort you down." He stands there, watching me walk backwards into my room.
My door closes and I press my back to it. Deep breaths Sophie. Deep breaths. I close my eyes and focus on my breathing for a second. Once I feel my heart rate has slowed down, I reopen them and get ready for dinner. I know he left, because I listened as his footsteps got quieter and quieter as he walked down the hallway towards his room.
I didn't exactly focus on getting ready as much as I planned to. My mind swims with images of Connor. It's odd that when I try to think of not being around him my tiger whimpers out loud. I never thought I'd be so dependent on one person.
*Knock knock* My head whisks to my door as two sharp knocks resound from the other side.
"Yes?" I ask as the person on the other side doesn't make themself known. I stand from my table mirror and walk to the door. "Who's knocking?"
The doorknob jiggles slightly, and I grab the knife on my dresser by the door. I prepare myself, and try not to think of who it could be. The second the door opens, the window leading into my room breaks and in comes five largely built men. Only one enters through the door, and he shuts it behind him before walking in. "Hullo Tigress." The man turns to me with a grin that could curdle milk. I flip the knife in my hand and aim it at his head while turning to glance at the others by the window. "Oh, kitty thinks a claw can stop us." He takes a threatening step towards me and I leap up onto the dresser.
"Connor!" I know he's on the other side of the house, but I also know he can hear me.
"Kitty, one wolf won't stop us." The man looks to his companions. "Now boys." A large bag dangles in front of me and the second the scent hits me, I begin to droop. My muscles relax to the point that I can't move, and one of the men lifts me up onto his shoulder.
My bedroom door slams open just as I feel the cold wind from outside on my face. "Sophie! What the hell?!" Connor sees me and I watch his face change from confusion to anger. "Let her go, now!" He growls a deep, angry growl, and I know he isn't the only one angry.
The man that has been speaking the entire time turns to the man holding me. "Go, I shan't be long." He doesn't watch us leave, and instead turns to Connor. "I believe you are the mate?" His way of speaking is slightly familiar to me, but I can't remember where I know him from.
Connor looks after me as the man holding me leaps out of the window. The rest stay there to handle him. I can't help but hope he's okay. I try to move against the man, but my body is completely paralyzed. Why can't I move? What the hell was in that bag? The man doesn't change into a wolf, and instead runs with me over his shoulder. The muscles in my stomach begin to hurt from his sharp shoulder digging into it every time he takes a step.
After about thirty minutes of him running, he stops by a small creek to get water. He props me up against a tree and leaves me there as he goes to drink. I push myself to move my fingers and, although it is a definite strain, I get them to move. Another minute and I have control of my arms. The man seems to be oblivious to my advances in no longer being paralyzed, so when he comes to pick me back up, I don't move, and act to be as completely paralyzed as I was before he set me down. He doesn't take off running again, and instead walks at a steady pace. It takes me a few minutes to build up the strength to hit him, but I do. My hands swing to hit his back and he grunts in shock from being hit. I hit him again, but this time in the head. He drops me to the ground, and I try to crawl away from him on my arms. He snatches me up again and I close my eyes right as his fist hits my face.
