We show up to the party about an hour after leaving Joker's house. It's located in a super fancy-looking hotel on the 13th floor with what looks like hundreds of people inside. I was given strict instruction to go in before Joker and talk business with a few people. I make my way through the crowd until I get to the back of the room where a few men in fancy attire are making small talk. "Excuse me," I say, making them quiet down and turn to me. One of them licks their lips.
"What can we do for you, sweetheart?" He says as the other two smirk at me. I shift uncomfortably and clear my throat.
"I was, um... just wondering where you got those drinks," I manage to say, nodding towards the champagne glasses in their hands. One of them laughs.
"This drink is too much to handle for a tiny little thing like yourself," he says, puffing out his chest a bit. I mentally roll my eyes, putting on my best fake smile.
"I can handle it, sir." I take a few steps closer before taking the drink from his hand. They all watch as I drink the rest of it, handing him the empty glass and walking away. My vision is now a bit blurred and my head is foggy. I've never consumed any alcohol besides wine before, and I think I'm already drunk. I'm quite the lightweight. I stumble my way through people, some taking the time to stop me and ask me if I'm okay. I feel my phone vibrate and I check to see it's a text from Joker.
Come up to the top floor, Doll. x J
I scan the room for an exit and maneuver over, greeting a few people as I go. Just as I'm about to open the door to leave, a man with an oddly styled beard stops me. "Leaving so soon?" He asks. I smile up at him.
"Yes, I came just for my husband's business. The nanny at home is probably going crazy," I lie with an easy laugh. The man raises an eyebrow, looking me up and down.
"Mother? You look way too young, darling." His eyes travel down to my hips and he grins. "But I suppose those are quite the birth-giving hips." I groan and lightly push him out of the way, speed walking out of the hotel suite. I find the nearest elevator and press the button for the top floor; the roof. What on earth could he be doing on the roof? The door opens to reveal Batman surrounded by Joker's men, with Joker lurking with a gun in his hand. He sees me and claps his hands together.
"Ah! Here she is! The light of my life," he says, taking my hand and pulling me over to Batman. "Honey, this is little ol' Batsy. We go way back." Am I really the light of his life? I snap myself out of it, realizing what exactly is going on here. Joker's pretty much about to kill Batman.
"Don't hurt him, J," I softly demand. Joker furrows his eyebrows at me, slowly forming a wicked smile.
"It's what I do, Dollface! Unless, of course, you'd like to do the honors." He holds out the gun to me and I quickly smack it out of his hand. Almost as if he was planning on me doing that, he spins me around and holds a knife from god-knows-where up to my neck, all in one swift motion. I gasp as we slowly back up until I'm standing on the ledge of the roof, shaking.
"Let her go," Batman demands, not taking his eyes off me. Joker laughs, turning to me and coming just centimeters next to my ear.
"Do you trust me?" He whispers. I breathe out a shaky 'yes' and he quickly turns back to Batman, not taking the blade off my neck. If he pressed any harder he's draw blood.
"Let her go!" Batman shouts again, looking ready to attack. Joker shrugs, putting the knife away.
"Okay," he casually says before pushing me off the ledge. I try to scream as loud as I can, but I can't. It's as if the wind has been knocked out of me. I knew it'd be a long fall, and at this point I don't think Joker had any plans to catch me. I'm not so sure why I expected him to in the first place. The last thing I see before I close my eyes is the clear night sky, full of shining stars.
Everything fell silent after that.
(A/N: Hello, lovelies! I know I haven't updated in a few days, soo much has been going on. I've been working, studying, and on friday I went to the Boston Comic Con!! It was so much fun, and it was my third year going! My boyfriend was the sweetest thing and bought me a Joker poster, Joker pop figure, and a few crystal pendant necklaces while we were out in the city. And we went and had a cute lil coffee shop date and read some books we picked up from the local book shop. Overall I've had a lovely weekend! I hope you're all doing great as well xo)
