OH SNAP WHAT IS THIS!?? I FINALLY MADE A PART!! ENJOY 4 NOW I GUESS!!
---
Mom... Mom always said that I was different... Not the kind of different like, "You're special!" followed by being praised for your weirdness... but... strange... malformed... abnormal... that kind of different.
I was an enigma- I looked different, I was shaped slightly different, my 'ink' never stayed in... I was the definition of weird...
I stayed in a lot. Unlike the other squids around, my skin burned when exposed to light for too long. When it rained, I would play alone in the drops- unlike them, I didn't dissolve in water.
I was doing as would do regularly, sitting near the small baby pool Leo had. I stayed in the shade of a tree while my little brother played in the clear ink.
"Bubby! Bubby! Come play!" Leo shouted, hopping in his pool happily.
I shook my head and walked over to the small squid, "Leo, you know I can't play in the ink with you..."
He looked down, but smiled and stood back up, "But, can you get my toys?"
I pet his little wet head, "Sure thing, squiddo." I ran inside to go get the playthings and ran into my mom.
"Oh, hello, sweetie! What are you doing?" She asked with a sweet smile, as always. Her top fangs always poked out when she smiled.
I smiled back, "I was getting Leo's toys for him. He wanted to play with them."
She pat my head, "Aww, that's sweet, {Y/n}!"
I grinned at her and ran to the living room to get Leo's toys. After searching, I had the rubber toys in my possession. I made my way back out side, but... Where was Leo?
He was out of his mini pool and was trying to peak over the fence. I walked over to the small squid and looked down at him, "Why did you leave? You got me worried!"
He didn't get upset like he usually did, instead he looked at me and smiled, "Look, Bubby! Turf War!"
I looked over the fence and saw six kids around my age. Each of them had a small gun with a tank on top, and were shooting each other with ink.
Two colors- green and purple. Two boys and a girl on green, two girls and a boy on purple. A few were struggling with concentrating on their target.
Finally, one of the girls watch went off and she yelled, "Time!" Everyone froze and waited. The girl that yelled climbed up a tree and looked down at the yard, and smiled.
"Haha! Purple wins!" The purple squids cheered as the green kids looked down with a chorus of sighs.
"Yay! That was cool!" Leo yelled, catching the attention of the group. I ducked down behind the fence before they could see me.
One of the boys smiled, "Pretty cool, right? I am a pro with the Splattershot, afterall!" The boy boasted, twirling the gun.
"Who are you?" The girl that climbed the tree asked.
Leo smiled, "I'm Leo! I'm four!" As scared as I was, I was amused by his enthusiasm.
"What's a squiddo like you doing out here by yourself?" A girl with a deeper voice asked.
Leo shook his head, "I'm not by myself! I'm with Bubby!"
"'Bubby'? I don't see anyone..." One of the boys said suspiciously.
Leo looked at me, "C'mon, Bubby, get up!" I sighed; if I ever had a cover, it was blown. I stood and waved at the group.
"Hello...!" I tried not to shake in my boots as I smiled at them, being sure to hide my flat teeth.
"Hiya! I'm Midori~!" A girl on the green side cheered, hopping over to the fence. She smiled at me and leaned on the fence, "I haven't seen you in any turf wars before... What's your name?"
"Uhh... My name... I'm {Y/n}..." She leaned in to look at my face closer.
"{Y/n}, huh? Well it's nice to meet ya!" She looked behind herself at her other friends, "Guys, c'mon! Let's all say hi!"
The palest of the boys walked up, pulling his goggles up from his eyes, "I'm Konao, the Splattershot expert!"
The girl with orange eyes ran up beside him and punched him in the arm, "Says the guy who lost! I'm Dairo, it's nice to meet you two." She held her hand out and I shook it.
"Oh, we had someone watching!? And I was defeated!? How embarrassing...!" One of the other green boys yelled dramatically, throwing an arm over his face as he leaned back, holding on to the blue eyed boy, whom only gave him a glare.
"Dramatic as ever, Hisu..." The boy from the purple team spoke up, pushing his glasses up his nose. "We can always count on you to be the most obvious."
The green eyed boy scoffed, "Whatever, Ko."
The purple boy looked back at me, voice flat and monotone, "I apologize for his behavior. I am Komura and he is Hisu- we are both glad to meet your acquaintance."
I smiled at him and looked at the last remaining person, a girl from the purple side, pink eyes studying my every move. Her eyes widened when I looked towards her and she darted her eyes away.
Midori noticed and put an arm around the dark girl, "C'mon, don't be shy!" Despite her protests, Midori dragged her over to me, "This is Momo! She's really shy, but really nice! I'm sure you'll get along!"
I smiled at the group of friends, thankful that I wasn't being ridiculed. "Well, like we said, I'm {Y/n}, and this is Leo, my baby brother."
"Hello!" Leo said, waving at everyone again.
"Is Leo your only brother?" Dairo asked, smiling at the little squid.
"Well, he's my little brother, but I have an older sister, too," I looked down at my brother, who's eyes were open in curiousity and were glossed over in happiness.
"Does she live with you? I'm assuming you live here," Komura asked, leaning on the fence separating everyone.
"She does, but she's off somewhere right now," I smiled as I spoke, eyes wandering off in thought. I spotted some dark clouds heading towards us and the town, "I hope she gets back quick- it's about to storm."
Everyone looked at the sky, spotting the dark clouds moving in fast. Leo, being afraid of storms, grabbed on to my leg scaredly. "Bubby..."
"Oh, it is... Um, hey, do you mind if we stay at your place while the storm passes?" Dairo spoke up again, leading me to belive she was most likely the leader of the group. "My mom locked the door when she left for work, and she left us outside without a key. We still have a few hours before she gets back home. Do you mind?"
Leo tugged my leg again, ushering me to hurry up. Quiet but heavy thunder shook from far away, helping to speed up the process.
"Um, yeah, I don't see why not." They smiled at my response and hopped the fence, splat weapons in hand. I picked Leo up in my arms, ignoring the wet ink that was still on him, and headed for the house.
Just as we all stepped on to the porch, it began to pour down. I ushered everyone to lay their weapons outside, under the veranda to make sure there were no accidents.
Once all squids were inside, my mom came in the room. She was about to greet me, but she saw the other kids behind me. "Um... {Y/n}? Who are these friends of yours? You didn't tell me anyone was coming over."
I looked between my mom and the squids behind me, "Uh... Yeah. They're the neighbors."
"All of them?" She seemed suspicious.
Dairo stepped forward beside me, "Actually, I'm your neighbor! Everyone else was just at my place for an ink battle. My mom didn't leave us any keys, so we asked {Y/n} if we could stay in while the storm passes."
"Well, I guess it's okay- just don't make a mess!" Everyone responded with a 'Yes, ma'am' and she left the room.
I looked back at the others after my mom scurried off, "C'mon, you guys can hang out in my room."
