A/n: the picture up top is Ireane! I drew it myself ^-^

Dairo smiled as she finished typing her number in, "Aaaand...! Saved! There, now you can text us any time you want, {Y/n}!"

I could feel my flace flame- So many friends in one day! "Ah, t-thanks Dairo!"

Midori pounced on the orange squids back, "Don't get shy now! We're always available!"

Momo stood by the two and smiled shyly. The boys went back to playing Smash with Ireane after they put their numbers in.

"Thank you for letting us stay..." Momo's deep voice spoke to me. Her smile widened when I told her it was no problem.

"You really didn't have to let us in- we usually stay under the porch until the rain passes, but that's only over at Ko and Mo's place," Dairo set her hand on my shoulder and ginned brightly.

Her hand was... cool...? It felt cool against my arm- not cold... just cool.

Dairo's phone buzzed and she quickly took her hand off and looked at the message. "Oh, mom's back! I guess we should head out then."

She turned back to the guys and yelled at them to get up, "My mom is home now, we can go back."

Konao and Komura obliged and Hisu slumped on the floor with a groan, "Do we have to...? I like being here... Good atmosphere and all that jazz."

Komura smacked his head, "Yes, we've stayed long enough and any longer would be outstaying out welcome." Hisu rubbed his head and stood up along with the rest.

"Leaving already? It's barely sunset," Mom poked her head in the living room and looked at the kids, wiping her hands on her baking apron.

Dairo checked her phone and sure enough it was after seven, "Yeah, mom just got off so she wants me back. The others probably have to get home, too."

Mom smiled softly, "We'll do be careful, all of you- and tell Yuki I said hello, Dairo."

"We'll be careful, ma'am! I'll make sure to tell mom, too!" The orange eyed girl darted from my mom to the group, "Alright, let's grab out gear and head out."

They headed to the back while Ireane and I saw them out. They slipped their ink tanks back on their backs and tucked their weapons in hand.

"Hey, don't be strangers now- come visit again soon," Ireane gave them a relaxed smile and looked over at me, "I'm sure the little twerp here appreciates the company. {Y/n} doesn't get out much."

I glared at my sister but turned back to the group, "It was nice to meet you all- I hope we can hang out again."

They smiled at me and each other, gripping their gear. "We'll be sure to come back, don't worry," Konao finalized.

They opened the screen door of the veranda and ran back to Dairo's yard, hopping the fence and darting into the back sliding glass doors that were now unlocked. Midori was the last one and gave me a small smile and wave before popping in the house.

"Finally got some friends, eh?" Ireane rubbed my head and pulled off my beanie, letting my hair show. She ruffled the locks that were different from her own. "I'm glad to see you happy, kid."

"I hope they like me..." I side hugged my sister and sighed in her touch.

"They do, kid," She squeezed my side, "I've known them for a while now- If Momo talks to you, you know she sees you as a friend."

I let out a small laugh and we walked back inside the house.

"Oh, are they gone?" Mom asked, peeking, again, out of the kitchen.

"Yeah, they left. They got the shirts too, don't worry about that," Ireane explained, seating herself on a barstool.

I hopped up on the seat next to her, "Where's Leo?"

"He got tired and went to take a nap," Mom explained, putting on her oven mitts and pulling a pan of rolls out of the oven.

"Did you give him his present?" Ireane set her elbows on the bar and took her boater hat off.

"He's sleeping with it," Mom giggled, moving the rolls from the pan to a free serving dish.

"What'd you get him, sis?" I asked her, nudging her propped arm.

"Just a small stuffed toy of a Zapfish. They were giving them out to spread awareness, a lot of kids got them so I got one for Leo."

She twirled her hat in her hand and looked at me, "You still got the present I gave you?"

I remembered and pulled the small rectangle box out of my pouch and set it on the bar. "What is it...?"

"I found a little bit of human history while I was on one of my scavenges- take a look."

I tore the paper packaging off and lifted the lid. A small book sat in the box, leather bound.

"The book had a picture of someone in it... I don't know who, I just know it isn't any creature I know," Ireane explained, lifting the book out, "It has a weird language, I don't know what it is, but it's definately not Inkling..."

She opened it and showed me the picture. Sure enough, the man in the photograph had thin strings for hair and rounded ears, flat teeth in a grin. "Woah..."

"Pretty cool, right?" She smiled and flipped through the pages. The language looked similar to Inkling but not enough to where it could be translated. "I found it near your pod."

I looked at her with a cocked brow, "Mine? Not near Judd's?"

She shook her head and closed the book, "Nope, It was under your cryopod."

"We're getting a little closer to finding out who you are, {Y/n}!" Mom ruffled my hair with the hand that wasn't covered in an oven mitt.

I laughed brushing my hair back into place, "I don't really mind not knowing, mom. I'm just glad that you guys gave me a roof and a name."

Ireane nudged me and laughed with me, "Oh, don't get sappy! Even if you don't find out who you are, you're still our little {Y/n}!"

I blushed and both of our phones dinged. We both checked our phones- a message from Dairo?

'Wanna hang out tomorrow? We're going to the cafe at the plaza.'

...

"You better say yes, squirt."
