The room looks like a bare, crisp canvas to an artist's eyes such as Liam's, who cannot figure out exactly which color of green to put on each precise wall. However to me, someone who doesn't really care either way, I try to make an effort to understand his artist "vision."
"It's just that I want a green that looks like algae in water. Like the beautiful beach in Puerto Rico I visited this summer, mal chickita. Oh, it was gorgeous, Pen. I want my living room to remind me of that," I lean the phone against my shoulder and jaw, while I make myself some nachos. With only the microwave of course.
"Then go with that," I say touching one of the chips, but pull back when I realize how hot it is.
Liam sighs, "Yeah, but I also love just blue. Like a sky, light blue,"
"Sky blue probably goes with more furniture. But then with the algae green or whatever it's called, you'll spend less on furniture because there's less stuff to go with it," I remind him. I hear shuffling on the other end, then a screech that couldn't come from low, monotoned Liam.
"I think I'm going to use sky blue, Penny," he finally says. I stop playing with my nachos and hold the phone correctly in my hand.
"And why's that?" I wait for a response.
"Because I knocked over the algae green paint when I was pacing,"
