"Come on. Just a few more minutes," I whispered to myself. I hate waiting for the last bell of the day to ring. Especially today. I could feel the teachers eyes prying into me and, like a dumbass, decided to look away from the clock and look at him.

"Malie Valderin. Would you be so kind to tell us the answer? I know you were paying attention," he joked. I stare at the problem acting like I was thinking hard when I knew the answer all along. I merely look at him and tease back, "X is equal 25." His facial expression showed he didn't expect me to answer quickly. That'll show him not to mess with a sharp Valderin. Right when the teacher was about to accuse me of cheating, the bell rang.

"No time to talk! Have to go!" I tell the teacher. The class follow me out as well to avoid the whole "the-bell- doesn't -dismiss- you- I -do." speech. I rushed to the bike rack pushing and shoving people out my way. As I grew near the bike rack, I accidentally drop down my friend.

"Dang it Sydney Bates. I told you to never cross in front of me while I'm running," I pretended to scold.

"Malie! One, get off me! Two. This is your birthday song. It isn't very long," she said as she got up. A big wave of happiness came over me when she remembered. I had no choice but to hug her tight. I let her go when I realized I was squeezing her too tight. I mouthed sorry and headed over to the rack.

"Where is your mom taking you?" Sydney asked. I looked at her with a "seriously" face. She rolled her eyes at me and said, "Oh yeah. I forgot." My mom is pregnant and she doesn't go out a lot anymore. Only to the market and things like that. We each say our good byes to each other and split up our pathways. I boosted through the streets like there was no tomorrow. I could feel the cold wind on my face all the way home. People shouting at me for not warning them I was coming and dogs barking at me. Such a hilarious sight in my eyes. I put my bike in the back yard and looked fir my keys. I couldn't even open the front because of my anxiety to see my mom. I finally opened the door and she yells out, " Surprise!" I jumped up high when she screamed. She hugged me as tight as,well, I hugged Sydney. She let me go and handed me a huge present.
