You'd always been an active little kid. You loved playing ball and that's what you did most days, including this one. Your friends laughed and giggled as the ball was kicked between the three of you. You'd been really into your little game of ball. Until it was kicked with enough force to roll right past you. "I got it!" You chimed and ran after the rolling back. You reached out and picked up the ball, but something else caught your attention.
The best way you could explain it, in the eyes of the kid you were that day, was heavy breathing. Noises that were unfamiliar to such pure little pink ears. You held the ball close and creeped closer to the alleyway you didn't even know was there until now. Your small mind raced with ideas of a monster feasting on a dead animal. Or a hurt puppy cowarding in the corner from neighborhood bullies. Slowly you peeked around the corner. What you saw was rather unexpected.
You'd known both of these people. You had never really come in contact with them but you'd sat on your mother's shoulders trying to get a good look at them when they passed through the town. They were the two people you looked up to the most. At the time you didn't know what was going on. Levi's legs were just above Eren's hips and Eren's face was buried into the side of Levi's neck. A motioned you'd seen your father do to your mother on occasions when he past by. But your mother always swatted him away and giggled. These two were just breathing heavy. You didn't understand. In some sort of amazement you stared, watching as Levi's head turned and the two of you locked eyes.
For a moment, you thought maybe he would be angry. That maybe he'd shoo you off or yell at you for being over there with them. You thought maybe he'd confront you about seeing them. But you didn't understand what was going on so you could only stare. You watched Levi's movements. His eyes always half closed like he was extremely disinterested in anything and everything. His hand came close to his mouth and his pointer finger pointed up and pressed against his lips. You'd known what that meant, it meant be quiet. It was something your mom did when she was telling a secret, like on your father's birthday. You smiled and giggled quietly and motioned it back before nodding, as if telling Levi you wouldn't tell a soul. You turned around when you heard your friends call your name. You looked back at Levi and waved a small goodbye before going back to your game. What an innocent child you were, you still hadn't told a soul what you saw.
