This lovely girl (who you may have noticed is a famous YouTuber irl :3) is Sophia!

I had just gotten out of last period art, when I was greeted by Sophia.
"Can I talk to you?" She asked hesitantly.
"Sure, do you want to come over?" I asked, surprised. Sophia hadn't exactly been acting friendly toward me ever since she started crushing on Alex.
"Um no I... can't. Today." She said quietly. "Can we just text?"
"Ok thats fine." I replied.
"Cool thanks." She said.
Then she walked away. She didn't say goodbye, she didn't smile, she just walked away. At this point, my day had gotten so weird I felt like I was going to spontaneously combust. There was the confrontation with Tiffany, Alex's hate note, Dylan asking me out, and now a weird acting Sophia. I didn't have time to think about Alex or Dylan, what I needed to do was talk to Hope.
I set down my bag, and grabbed my phone out of the front pocket. My thumbs flew across the screen as I typed her a text to meet me at my house at 7:00. I shoved my phone back into my bag and strolled towards the front doors.
Little did I know, we wouldn't be meeting each other tonight.

When I reached my house , I was greeted by my mother immediately.
"Stephanie please come in and go in the living room, we need to talk." She said quietly.
I immediately knew something was seriously wrong for her to say that.
"What's going on mom?" I asked her, walking into the living room.
My mother gestured to the couch, signaling that I should sit.
"Mom tell me." I said urgently.
"Your father..." She started, then broke off.
"What happened?" I was practically screaming at this point.
"He was in a serious car crash. Chances are better than not, he's not going to live." She finished, her voice cracking with emotion.
The lights in the living room got brighter and brighter until I was blind. I felt the world spin beneath my feet. I felt myself being plunged deeper, deeper deeper, underwater. Nobody could hear me. I screamed for help.

I woke up in my bed, drenched in sweat. It was completely dark in my room. I slowly sat up. What had happened? I stood up and looked at my clock. The red, blinking numbers read 3:24 AM. I looked around my room, dazed and frightened. Then it hit me like a load of bricks. My father. He was dying. And if he died... He would be gone. I'd never laugh or joke with him, or cook Thanksgiving with him. I wouldn't ever teach him how to use his phone for the hundredth time. We wouldn't go to the beach for his birthday or get ice cream from Sherrie's Ice Cream Parlor.
No. I couldn't lose him.
I'd already lost my best friend, there was no way I would lose him too. God wouldn't do that. He couldn't do that. No higher being in the universe could be cruel, let alone God.
I started to shake and my eyes prickled with tears. I burst into uncontrollable sobs, gasping for breath. I collapsed onto my bed and pulled the covers over my head, accepting the darkness, welcoming it, wishing I could be sucked into it, and stay there forever.

Sorry this is such a short chapter, and so late. It was a real struggle trying to write all the emotions that Stephanie was feeling, so it took me a little while. I promise I'll write more, longer chapters soon :)
