We sat outside on the school bench in silence. Not as awkward as I thought it would be. A huge smile was spread across both of our faces. As we continued waiting for our parents to arrive, we both looked into each other's eyes.

"So what happens now?", I question Blade. He looks at me with his eyebrow raised in confusion and disappointment.

"I'm not sure. How did you feel about it?"

"Well you weren't the worst I've had", I smile as he frowns, " but you were also my first so I guess I can't complain." His face instantly brightens with a smile.

"Thanks. You weren't too bad yourself", Blade retaliates. I fight back my smile. "But honestly, what about this? Us?" My smile slowly falters into confusion.

"I mean it wasn't bad. I'm not the only one who matters in this you know? What do you want?"

He places his hand over mine. "Okay, well I'm going to just get this off of my chest now." With a sigh, he continues, "I like you. More than like actually. Maybe even love you", I cannot contain my smile," and I would really love it if you would be-", before he can continue, I push my lips onto his, moving them together in sync.

"Yes, I would love to be your girlfriend, Blade", I breathe when we pull away from each other. The thought that I've never actually kissed anyone before in my life, besides family of course, is so strange considering that I just had my first and second kiss within less than an hour.

"I guess that settles it then. We're dating now", he boasts. My happiness only lasts for so long before I remember a key factor in my love life.

"Oh crap. My mom doesn't let me date. She thinks I'm going to end up pregnant like all of the other girls around here. I'm not sure if this would work out", I say, sadness seeping through each word.

"Well maybe I can change her mind. I can be quite the gentleman."

"Eh, I'm not sure. She's pretty stuck in her own ways."

"I don't think I can go on without you being mine any longer. Especially after today", he winks. I feel the heat rising in my cheeks.

"Well, what she doesn't know won't kill her", I smile, leaning into Blade's chest. He wraps his arms around me as I take in his scent: Old Spice and Axe body spray. It's quite enticing actually.

As we sit on the bench, cuddled into each other for warmth, we speak about ourselves. I found out his favorite color is green, he likes to play basketball in his spare time, he despises his step-sister just as much as everyone else, and so much more. We exchanged phone numbers and continued talking about random topics as he twiddled my fingers.

A familiar van pulled into the carpool lane, causing me to swiftly remove myself from Blade's arms. He gave me a sad yet understanding look just as another car pulled into the lot. He picks his backpack up from the ground and onto his shoulder in one quick motion. That must be his mom, I thought. I copied his movements as I pulled my bookbag onto my back.

Just as I begin to to walk to my awaiting mother's car, I feel a gentle hand grab a hold of mine, pulling me into their arms. A giggle escapes my lips as I'm brought face to face with Blade. Placing his hand upon my cheek, he pulled me in for a slow, passionate kiss. My arms instinctely wrap around his waist, eyes closing , as I silently thank God for the dimming sunlight and wide pole blocking our parents from the completely wonderful gesture.

We pull away, smiling, and seperate ourselves to go to our parents. As I walk into my mother's view, I put on my best poker face.

"I'll send you some of the papers when I get home", Blade said loud enough for our parents to hear, which is what I believe he meant to do. I try to fight my smile as I nod. I feel like a bad ass, like we have some huge secret that is a life or death situation. I mean, the secret part is right.

As I open the car door with one leg in, I catch his smile and discreet wink before climbing into his own vehicle. I smile towards the ground as I close the door behind me.

"Well hello. How was school today?", asks my mom as she begins to drive out of the school's property, glancing at me, awaiting my answer.

I look into the rearview mirror, smiling as I notice Blade's happy expression through the darkness. He really is the light in my darkness. "It was quite lovely actually."

"Good. So did you get to finish your project yet?"

"Nope. We still have a few more pages to complete. It shouldn't take much longer though."

"Alright. You better not be doing anything with him."

I remain silent. I can't help but feel a bit guilty for keeping this from her but it did just happen minutes ago. As we pull into our driveway and our home, this thought is stuck in my mind.

I prepare for bed, brushing my teeth and hair. As I tuck myself into my blankets and lie my head on my pillow, I remove my glasses and place them on my night stand.

Let's see how this goes, are my last thoughts as I slip into my dreamland.
