Prologue-
My fault, my fault, my fault, mine.
Thoughts that didn't make any sense anymore swirled through her mind. There used to be so much blood...but for some reason it all gone. It seemed that it was washed away from some unknown source. Is this what the monsters did? Kill each victim wordlessly, then sweep their blood away to leave no trace for those who wandered in next.
Never had any of those groups found Hazel. The years (were they even years? or maybe it was just a month....) spent in fighting and hiding from the hell sent monsters helped her be able to know where exactly in the house was actually safe.
Then things got messed up. Time went funny. Of course, it was already funny in some way since the house kept Hazel in some timelock where she didn't age, but it went funny in some different way.
Time would reverse, then start going again. It happened repeatedly. She later figured out that it was one group that had found out how to go back in time.
But she didn't care, or she didn't really know what to do. The time spent alone had further provoked the breaking of her once very sane mind. Thoughts would go in circles, or she would simply just sit somewhere and do nothing. The monsters never bothered her anymore.
That's what she was doing now. Simply sitting. She cradled a hatchet in her lap, one that hadn't been used since the last one of her group died. That was around the time the monsters had played a cruel trick.
When she asked to be killed by them, literally throwing herself down in front of one to be slaughtered, it looked at her with the eyes that once shivered her bones and then walked off. She remembered crying. She remembered taking the hatchet and turning it towards herself.
But something held her back.
She didn't know what. She felt as if something or someone needed her.
She felt like that time was very soon.
"....Um, Hello? W-who are-a you?"
Hazel blinked, turning towards the voice that called out to her.
"Me...?" Hazel's mind didn't process that she was in fact the only one in this room with the brown haired boy, one curl sticking out of his messy mop of hair. Her next words came out broken and her voice cracked. It had been quite a while since she had spoken to another human. "Me....Hazel. Hazel. My name..."
"How long have you-a been here?" His Italian accent was thick and he approached Hazel cautiously, as if afraid she was a monster as well.
"...Long?Long........Long time........long, long time."
The boy seemed wary of her hatchet and she followed his gaze to it . She raised it. holding out the handle to him.
"....Hatchet." She tried telling him she was safe.
"Yeah." He mumbled taking it and sitting down next to her. "How old are you?"
"four....ten. Ten and four. Fourteen." She mumbled. She searched for the word that meant someone else. "......you? How old.......you?"
"I'm-a fifteen. My name is Feli." He replied. "I-a came here with my friends. Come on....it's-a not safe here."
".....O'brien...." She remembered a name that wasn't kept safe. "...safe?.....friends...."
"Yeah, come on." Feli held out a hand to her. Hazel stared at him for a while before taking his hand as he helped her up.
".......O'Brein........."
