|ANNA'S POV|
There's an unmistakable eerie feeling as we walk along the side of the building on the old cobblestone.
I get chills throughout my body just thinking about what is taking place inside. My mind starts going crazy at all the possible outcomes if we step foot inside.
My thoughts are interrupted by Liz, "Look there's a broken window over there that's big enough for us to squeeze through." I turn to see, and she was right.
"You can go first." Liz suggests.
"What the hell, it was your idea you go first!"
"Fine then you stay out here and keep watch and I'll go in-" She moves up to the window about to maneuver her way in, "I hope someone doesn't take you while I'm inside."
My eyebrows raise in fear and I scan the outside area around me. "Alright I'll go, just watch my back okay."
I exhale and study the window looking for glass that might puncture me. Without making to much noise I kick the remaining glass out.
Here I go.
Getting in was easy, the landing...not so much. I had hit the ground hard. It was pitch black in the room.
"Anna! Are you okay, call out to me!" I hear Liz say.
"I'm fine, be careful on your way down." I warn her. I roll on my side and manage to get up without thinking of the pain.
Liz does it way better than me and gets in without hurting herself. Typical.
I roll my eyes but she couldn't see anyways, and neither could I for that matter. We hold hands so we don't lose one another in search for a way into the actual warehouse/castle type place.
"There's light...look over there." I let go of Liz's hand to go towards it. She follows.
"It's a door, should we open it?" I asked Liz.
"Well we can't stay in here forever so, go ahead...just be careful."
I run my hand along the door to find the knob, "Found it." I exclaim.
I twist the knob slow and steady trying to be as quiet as possible. "shhh!" Liz hisses at me.
"I'm trying!"
Once I get it open I peak through the crack to see if anyone was there. "It's a hallway."
Liz nudges me out of the way, "Is it really? Come on, stay close to me."
When we step into they hallway it looked as though no one had been in this section in quite some time. The lights flickered as we made our way down.
We managed to make our way around some of the building for ten minutes without being spotted.
"I think someone lives here." I said in astonishment. From the outside it didn't look very, well...homey.
"Get down I hear people coming." Liz and I take cover under a table with long cloth over it, anyone who was to walk by wouldn't be able to see us unless they lifted it up, which was unlikely.
I hear two men talk close by, "Do you think we're gonna get caught? I have a bad feeling about this, is everything secure?"
"That's not going to happen, the boss has things set up to the tee, nothing is gonna go wrong you can put that on my grave..." I hear a obvious older man say. He lights what sounds to be a cigarette and continues to talk with it in his mouth.
"...now if you worry like this I'll have't to kill ya, cause I can't have you backin' out and tellin' the police, that just ain't gonna do for me buddy boy. You're a newbie, ya see I've been working for the boss for over fifteen years I see people come and go all the time. You ain't nothing special. We can replace you in a heart beat, so don't fuck this up!" He raises his voice on the last part causing me to flinch.
I cover my mouth with my hand to stay quiet. Fear has sunk in.
What have I gotten myself into?
