|Anna's POV|
The expression on Keaton's face was gut wrenching. I thought he'd be happy to see me. But I was wrong. He was mortified, I couldn't understand why. He turned to Wes and Drew, then back at me.
"Hi." He spoke, almost as a question.
Despite everything, I, was afraid to move, not because of all that had happened, but for the plain reason that this obviously made Keaton think differently of me. I could see it in his eyes. I did something wrong.
"I can't believe this. W-why are you here...after everything I did." Keaton's voice fading into a whisper, running his hands through his hair.
Drew tried to pull him aside but Keaton approached me anyways.
"I'm happy to see you." I said as he was now in front of me.
"Well I'm not."
My smile quickly disappeared. "Can I just ask you why you're treating me this way? I did nothing! You're making me feel horrible, like I did something to you." My tears swell up into tiny pools and everything was blurry until I looked down in shame and they began to fall.
Keaton huffed, "You're not supposed to be here. I did all that I could to keep you safe and look what happened. I couldn't. I couldn't do one simple thing, and that was to keep you as far away from here as possible. The only thing that was keeping me slightly okay was the reassurance that you were safe and I was the soul reason behind that." Keaton chokes up. He turns to wipe away his own tears so I couldn't see him that way.
"Keaton look at me."
He turned halfway and sighed.
"I didn't ask for you to do that, but I'm sorry you couldn't. Thank you...for trying. But aside from that if you really cared you'd help me get you guys out of here because I'm being chased and this is the first place they're going to look."
"There's keys in that drawer!" Wes blurted out, "Hurry."
I scramble to find them, I jiggle the drawer and hit it a few times before it opened but it did and I ran back to the cell.
*click*
The door opens and Drew wraps his arms around me, then Wes. Keaton stood there looking at us, I didn't understand why. "Let's not waste anymore time. You said you were being chased?" Drew asks.
"Yeah," I notice a high window in the room big enough for us to squeeze through but we just need to break it first. "Wait can you guys help me break that window?"
Wes nods and grabs the candle holder from me, "Stand back."
I take cover behind Drew and shield my head. I hear the sound of glass shattering and we all rush to the window to get out.
Wes goes first then Drew hoists me up and Wes pulls me through.
I stand up and check my surroundings, we're on the other side of the building but it's night time so it's hard to tell exactly where.
"What?" I hear Wes say in a concerned tone. The next I know Wes goes over to me and sits with me on the ground and covers both of my ears to prevent me from hearing something. He's shaking so bad.
What did he see? What's going on?
