Chapter 2 -Meeting the Family

*Melodie P.O.V*

It was the second night that I was babysitting Tony, he was a bit upset tonight because Rudolph left and has yet to come back and see us. I walked into Tony's bedroom to make sure he wasn't having a bad dream, when I walked in Rudolph flew into the room thru the window. Tony woke up and put his glasses on. "Rudolph!" he and I said in excitement. Rudolph started to walk towards us but turned back and picked up a drawing off of Tony's desk. "Where have you seen this?" he asked Tony. "Can you take us flying again?" "No it's too dangerous, now where have you seen this?" Rudolph asked once again. "I'll tell you if you take us flying again." Tony said knowing he got what he wanted from Rudolph. Next thing I know we were flying, towards the cemetery "That's my home." Rudolph said as we slowly were lowered towards the cemetery.

Tony and Rudolph were talking about the amulet as I wandered around the cemetery when I heard flapping and bat squeaks. "My parents! You two must hide." Rudolph said "But were brothers." "They don't know that." Tony ran to me and I pulled him behind a tombstone. Two bats morphed into a man and a women, his parents, they were also dressed like the Victorian Era. "Thank the stars you're safe." The women said to Rudolph hugging him. "My son you must not stray so far away." The man said to him leaning down "We were afraid" "I was only taking the road less traveled" "And you got lost" she said smiling down on her son. "Yoohoo" a little girl with long blond hair and the same era style of clothing said from the top of a gravestone "Sister" Rudolph said as he went up to hug her. I tuned out of the conversation they were having when I heard more flapping and it got quiet till I heard a thump. The mother say "Gregory?" I turn around to hear hissing.

*Gregory's P.O.V*

I hissed and saw a little blond boy and tall girl that was around my age. The little boy ran next to Rudolph, I looked back at the girl and saw her still standing there looking at me with her arms crossed and an eyebrow raised. I took a step forward and was near her when I looked into her eyes. She was so beautiful, it felt as if my family weren't even there anymore she was the only thing I could see. For the first time it seemed that I could feel again. All of a sudden I heard her silky voice say to me "I'm not scared of you if that's what you're trying to do." I looked at her and smirked when my brother pushed me away. "No Gregory! They are my friends." he said. I looked to my father knowing he will freak out at Rudolph's outburst. "Mortals?" my father yelled, getting really angry. He started to lift the little boy off the ground when the girl ran over and grabbed the boy "You cannot do that to him he is just a child." she said. He went to grab the girl when I stepped in front of her "Father, Rudolph brought them here for a reason and they are just children." I said "Right brother?" I asked turning to see Rudolph nod. He started to explain when I tuned him out and looked at the girl, for some reason I started to feel again it was as if being alive once again after being undead for over 300 years I haven't felt for a long time. I noticed the little boy start to run, the girl chased after him, I stood to go with her when I felt a burning sensation on my skin. I look over to see Rookery.

*Melodie's P.O.V*

I chased after Tony when I started to hear screams, I look over to see the vampire family being attacked by non other than my father I told Tony to go unplug the gun while I helped the family into the crypt. I grabbed Gregory's hand and picked up Anna and carried them into the crypt. Rudolph ran to get Tony while I stayed with Anna and Gregory making sure they were okay. "I'm fine." Gregory said to me while Anna got up and said "Thank you miss." and ran over to her mother. She looked at me "I'm Freda and my husband is named Frederick." "It is a pleasure to meet you." I said calmly and looked back over to Gregory "Are you sure that you're all right?" "Yes I'm fine trust me." he said with a small smile. I saw his father walk over to Tony and I "That was foolish -" "but brave" his wife cut him off. They shared a look and looked back at us, his father leaned down when Tony grabbed the amulet around his neck they both looked dazed. I reached for Tony when Gregory grabbed my arm "Don't, they are sharing a vision." I looked at him like he was crazy but drew my arm back to my side. Gregory didn't let go of me, it felt like he was too scared to let me go as if he would lose me. I moved my arm a bit "I'm sorry, didn't realize that I was still holding you." he said quietly. "It's okay" I said grabbing his hand for a split second and letting go. His mother noticed but dropped the subject when Tony and Frederick both came out of their daze. "We shared a vision" Frederick said, "He has a sympathy for our kind." Freda replied looking at Tony "Oh lovely" Anna stated looking at Tony with as much love an 8 year old could muster. "Young Von found the stone, then he made his way to Scotland, plucked from the sea by a merchant ship just as rumor had it." he said walking around the crypt "Then he could still be roaming free." she whispered to herself making her way towards him. Gregory and I stood in the corner of the crypt "What stone are they talking about?" I asked him "It is part of the Attamon comet, it fell to earth, a magician turned it into a amulet, it will break the curse of being a vampire." I tuned out what Tony was saying about the family crests, besides there is no way for me too help I've never seen the crest before.

After some time of the other talking I stepped in "Tony we should head back now don't want your parents to worry." "Of course, Rudolph can you take Tony, Gregory can take Melodie." Freda asked her two boys giving them a look. "Mother Rudolph brought them both here why can't he take them both back." I felt slightly hurt by his statement but tried not to show it, here I was thinking we could have been friends.

*Gregory's P.O.V*

I noticed Melodie was hurt but I didn't want to hold her hand again, it makes me feel and I haven't felt in such a long time that it scares me. My mother gave me a look, and knowing I couldn't get out of this one, I took Melodie's hand and lifted her out of the crypt. "I'm sorry you have too do this, you can just take me that way and I will be gone soon enough." she said slightly choked up. "Melodie I am dearly sorry if I hurt you, I guess I'm just tired after the Rookery thing from earlier." "It's okay, I'm being over dramatic, I just don't have many friends and I thought that we were becoming friends." she said looking away from me. "Do you want to know why I didn't want to take you?" she gave a slight noise letting me know she is listening to me. "I was scared, do you believe in soulmates?" "Yes?" she answered unsure why I would ask that question. "Well I didn't, until I saw you, the reason I didn't want to take you is because you are my soulmate. I haven't felt many good feelings for so long, that the way I am feeling for you scares me." I stated softly landing on a balcony. "That's very flattering Gregory, I hope to see you soon then." she said turning away from me. I almost left when I heard her call me "Oh Gregory" she called running back over to me "Thank you for flying me back to Tony's." she smiled and leaned up to kiss my cheek. "See you soon" she said as I started to fly off while holding my cheek. This girl makes me want to be a mortal once again.
