Chapter 3 - Nighttime Fantasies

*Melodies P.O.V*

My dad came bursting into my room "Your friend is here." he said. He went to go walk out when he turned around and stated "You're coming to work with me today, it's the family business you need to take over when I'm gone." "I don't want to go, therefore I'm not going." "Come on hun. If your friend doesn't mind coming she can come too, she does believe in vampires right?" he asked trying to bribe me on going with him. "Yeah she does, i'll ask her okay?" "Thank you hun." he said closing the door. I walk out of my room and see my best friend Becca, I walk over and hug her "So, my dad is dragging me to work with him..." "Yeah, so what are you going to do?" she asks "Wanna come with? Please?" I asked giving her the biggest smile ever. "Fine" she said rolling her eyes and nudging me towards the stairs. "Go get ready." she says "I'll wait here" I run upstairs and start to get ready.

*Slight Time Skip*

I run back downstairs to see my dad walking out the door with some stuff in his hands and Becca on the couch. When she sees me she states "Good you're done, lets go wait in the truck." she smiled as we walked over to the truck, opened the door and sat down. I looked over to Becca and started to remember how we became friends.

*Flashback*
"Hi class welcome to the first day of 1st grade, let's share our name and one thing we think is cool." my teacher said. When it finally got to me I stood up "My name is Melodie, and my daddy is a vampire hunter." I said, it was silent. The whole class bursted into laughter, I looked around and saw one girl in the corner not laughing just looking at me. I sat down with tears in my eyes, it got to the little girl sitting in the corner and she stood up. She looked in my direction and said "Hi my name is Becca, and I believe in vampires." I smiled. "Alright that is enough of vampires for one day." the teacher said. I smiled at Becca and she smiled at me.
*End Flashback*

"Hey you okay?" I heard Becca ask as she grabbed my arm. I looked at her and gave a small smile "Yeah, I'm good just remembering how we became friends and how it always seems to make a circle back to our current situations." "What do you mean?" she asked as my dad got in the truck. "I'll tell you later." I said "Tell her what later?" "Nothing dad, just girl stuff." I said crossing my arms. "Alright no need to get snippy." he said chuckling a bit. We started to drive around town and he was looking for areas the vampires could be. He mentioned the cemetery incident, which I knew about but let him explain in detail anyway, we started to go in that direction when I stated "They would have left, they aren't stupid." "You're right, lets look elsewhere." he said giving me a smile "See its in your blood." I looked at him as he turned down another road. I let out a sigh knowing that the vampire family would be safe for a while longer.

*Time Skip*

"That was a good idea hun, to look elsewhere. Go rest i'll do the rest for tonight okay?" my dad asked. "Okay, bye." I said as Becca and I started to walk into the house towards my room. "So what did you mean earlier, about it circling?" "Well..." I said as I opened my door. "Hello, my sweet." Gregory said floating upside down in front of me, I smiled while Becca gave a squeak. "Well that didn't take long for you to find where I live." I said to Gregory "Of course, but who is this?" he asked "That's Becca, she's my best friend." "Pleasure to meet you." he said smiling at her and slowing lowering down and landing on the floor softly. "This is what I meant, you see Gregory, well, he's a vampire." I said "You two are crazy, no that is not possible." she said laughing "It is possible I promise, you said you believed, well here's a real life vampire." she looked shocked "Who also happens to be the love of my life." I say under my breath, Gregory smirked, I knew he heard me, "What did you say?" she asked. "That he is well, the love of my life." I repeated as Gregory wrapped his arm around my waist and nuzzled my neck. "Don't bite her please, that is all I ask." she says very quickly. "I would never hurt her, she is too special to me." he said looking at her and back at me " Well i'll leave you guys alone then, as long as you are happy Melodie, I'm happy for you, I trust your judgement." Becca said as she started to leave, she opened the door again "Oh Gregory, hurt her and I will stake you. Also nice meeting you." and with that she was gone. "Isn't she interesting." he said "Yes very, now come here." I said dragging him over to my bed (NO SEXUAL THOUGHTS) "Come cuddle." I asked with a slight whine. "Of course my dear." he said cuddling up with me.

We layed there for a while I was thinking about the amulet and how it would work. "Melodie, I know we haven't know each other very long but I would like to court you." he said "Court me? Is that like being a couple." "Yes, in my time it was called courting my dearest apologies for even asking." he said getting up. "No" I stated grabbing him with a light giggle "You didn't let me answer. I would love for you to court me." I said raising my hand and cupping his cheek. "Do you believe we were together in another life?" he asked grabbing both my hands and sitting up "What do you mean?" I ask sitting up myself. "Well, do you think we were together in another time, like before I was even born?" "I believe we were made for each other in the beginnings of time because of how much I like you." I said grabbing his hand and playing with his fingers, he smiled. "What will happen when we find the amulet?" I asked, his smile dropped. "I don't know, all I know is I won't be a vampire anymore." he said standing up and pacing "For all I know it might just kill me off and have me reborn or it might take me away and put me somewhere else on this earth." his voice started to raise, he started yelling about how he hated not knowing. I reach to grab his arm when he turns around with his fangs out and hisses at my outstretched hand, I pull back and jump out of shock. He realizes what happened and his expression softened "I'm sorry" he said sitting down on the edge of the bed "It's not your fault." "I want to fix this." "I know, I know" I said hugging him from behind. "Things aren't going to be easy, but they can still be good." "It shouldn't be this hard." I said as he reached up and grabbed my hand gently. "If you're not happy, you know that's what matters most to me." he said looking doubtful "Hey." I stated grabbing his face and turning it towards mine "I love you just as much as I always have." I smiled "I love you" he smiled back and leaned in, I did too and we met in the middle. Our kiss felt so right, I broke the kiss and stood up, closed the lights and my blackout curtains. I layed back down and cuddled into Gregory's side, he kissed the top of my head and I quickly fell asleep.
