What just happened?

Chapter 9

The next big question around our lunch table ,after Liz left, was who told the police, I didn't dare to tell anyone that it was probably my mom. I was just going to have a long discussion with her about this, because like my mom said this is a serious matter and I need to be left out of it, but if mom told the police she was just dragging me back into it. I just seriously can't believe she would do this to me.

When I got home that day, I found mom and was going to talk to her about this when she cut me off because she told me she had more important things to do than listen to me talk about my day. Now, this totally blew me away. Why would my mom ever say something like that to me? I knew that her and dad didn't exactly care about me, but really you don't say something like that to your only daughter's face. So, I said back "I know you don't care, but this is important, and I think it is all your fault."

"Honey, what could I have done to ruin your day at school?" mom said, acting as if she didn't even know.

"Don't give me that mom. I know you told the police that Liz does drugs. Now, I know you don't want me to be her friend, but really I was going to help her and you decide to go and ruin it by telling the police. Not to mention they came in during lunch when the entire high school was in the cafeteria." I said, matter-of-factly.

"I never did such a thing!" mom said, as though someone slapped her in the face.

"Well, you are the only one I told and I'm sure my friends didn't say anything to their parents, because we promised not to tell anyone." I said starting to get annoyed with mom's lying.

"Well, this is your problem young lady! I suppose I could drive you over to the police station to talk with Liz about all of this", mom continued, "since you think I did all of this."

"Yes! thanks mom!" I exclaimed.

When we got to the police station, I didn't just walk right in, I hid behind a wall to see if I could find anything out before going and talking to Liz.

After a few minutes of waiting and listening, I heard something. I wasn't able to make out the voice, it didn't sound like Liz or one of Liz's parents. "Thank you for letting us know, this is the girl you thought you saw robbing the bank?"

What just happened?
