Chapter 10
"Yes sir, this was the girl who robbed the bank." Now this voice I knew, it was Liz's mom. How could she do this to her own daughter? Well, I guess it is sord of like how my parents care about me. Maybe Liz did rob the bank. No, no she wouldn't do something like that. Did Liz's mom really hate her daughter that much? I know my parents don't care about me but would they really lie to the cops and put me in jail?
"I didn't do it," this was Liz, "I promise I never did such a thing."
"Okay, well we will take a walk back to the lie detector in the back room." the officer whispered to Liz's mom.
"Alright." She said with a little smirk.
Oh no, they are going to come down this hallway. I panic. What to do, What to do? "come with me," I hear the police officer tell Liz. I hear slight sobs and I want to cry. No time for that, think Grace think. It was too late the officer and Liz are already headed down the hallway I'm hiding behind.
"Grace?" I hear my name being called by Liz. "What are you doing here?"
"I thought I would talk to you, but obviously you are busy." I had to think of a reply quickly.
"How much did you hear?" a now worried Liz says.
"I heard you mom lie to this police officer saying you robbed a bank." I say confidently.
"Yea, can you tell him I didn't do it?" Liz now says with hope in her eyes.
"Yes, but when does you mom say she thinks you robbed the bank?"
"my mother says I robbed the Fairfield Federal bank this past weekend." Liz says with anger in her eyes.
"Well, you couldn't have you were at my dad's house with me."
"how convenient," the now puzzled officer says. " Grace is it?"
"Yes, Grace Smith."
"Okay well please come with me and Elizabeth." the officer said acting like he was bored.
"Yes sir." I replied.
Once we were in the back room, the officer hooked up wires to Liz and I. I knew what they were but Liz had to ask what was going on. Of course he told her it was nothing to worry about but they were just going to do a little bit of testing. He asked us both a couple of questions and when we were done the police officer told us that we were clean and not lying, like we didn't already know. Then he asked if either of us had been on medication recently. This must have been what Liz's mom wanted him to say. Well, I said no. And I was afraid to answer for Liz. She answers very calmly. " I do, but only because my mother forces me to." the lie detector didn't beep, meaning she was telling the truth.
"why would she do this?" the police officer asked.
" I don't know, but I have caught her putting something into my gummy vitamin. And yes I still take gummy vitamins okay, I can't take real pills bigger than Advil size." Liz replies to the officer. The lie detector didn't beep again so, Liz was telling to truth.
"Okay, thank you for letting me know." the officer replied finally looking with care in his eyes.
"Well, if we are done here my mom is out in the parking lot, and I probably should go." I said, finally getting my voice.
"Grace, please stay with Elizabeth and I while I do some tests on her and her mother." The officer replied, with concern.

The officer took Liz and Liz's frightened mother to another room down the hall, leaving me to be anxious on what he was going to do.
Finally after an hour of nail biting, all three came out and back down the hall with the news.
"Elizabeth, this is not your real mother." The police officer said in a nonchalant voice.
"What" said Liz and I at the same time, while her mother looked at us.
