I was out in the garden sitting in the long lashes grass. I inhaled the smell of the greenery that completely relaxed me. As I sunk my hands between the blades of grass dandelions grew around them. I didn't want to use my powers before since what Greyson said to me about how being a witch was probably one of the reasons that whoever was starting these attacks wanted me. But I had never told anyone about what I could do. Only my mother, father and Ella knew.
Ever since he found out he told me it would probably be best if I learnt how to use my powers to my advantage. Which has been quiet difficult and aggravating since I honestly don't know exactly what I can do. I only ever played in the garden as a kid and figures it out when I sneezed and the roses on our old rose bush and one wilted. I cleared my mind and focused on the grass in front of me. I felt strong and could feel the energy running through me. I focused my mind on the grass in front of me and shut my eyes. I was listening to the sounds in the garden. The subtle swish of the grass and the chirping of the birds even the soft sound of the crickets. I let myself relax and the focused the energy in my arms before pushing it into the ground.
It felt so nice, comfortable and relaxing. It made me feel at ease. I felt the ground beneath me shake but I still didn't open my eyes. I felt something in the ground, it was travelling back up towards my arms. Something jolted through me. I snapped my eyes open and looked at my arms to see a green glow running through my veins. It didn't hurt but I didn't know what to do so I just pulled my arms away. The glowing immediately stopped as my hands lost contact with the ground. I was starting to feel dizzy and had to take a couple deep breathes before getting up. I didn't realise how long I had been out here because by the time I was at the door to the house the sun was about to set.
I turned around and watched as the sun slowly faded away falling down the sky filling it with a beautiful orange gradient. Once it disappeared I walked back inside. Barely anyone was in the living areas which wasn't weird for this time of day as most were preparing for dinner or for some of the younger ones even an early bed time. I walked over to Greysons office and that is where I was most likely to find him and knocked on the door. "Come in." I heard his deep voice say. I opened the door while looking around the room. "Oh hey Lucy. You alright." I directed my gaze at him and was about to respond when he cut me off. "Jesus what's going on with your eyes." He said while standing. Concern was written all across his face. "What. What's wrong with them?" I asked completely confused as to what was going on.
He grabbed my shoulders and pushed me over to the mirror softly. I looked up at my reflection and let out a small gasp. I blinked a couple times. "What the hell?" I asked more to myself then to him. My eyes were a bright bright green. They were almost glowing. Something clicked in my mind. It must of been caused by the glowing in the garden. Once I regained my composure I told Greyson about my little time in the garden. He was fine with it knowing that he did tell me to actually try using my powers. "Are you sure your alright?" He asked for the one billionth time. "Yes. It was just a surge of power the whole eye thing will probably wear off sooner or later." I said calmly with a smile trying to get him to relax.
He let out a sigh. "Well I'm proud of you for trying new things. Just don't push yourself too hard alright." He said while pulling me into a hug. I nodded while nuzzling my head into his neck. It was quiet as we held each other for a moment, I relaxed into his arms and shut my eyes just enjoying this moment. My eyes snapped open as a heard a shriek and Greyson tensed before letting me go. "Stay here." He said using his alpha tone before quickly leaving the room.
Um hell no. I was going to help whether he likes it or not. I slowly and cautiously walked out of his office following where I heard the scream come from. I could sense that there were some people not from our pack here which sent a chill down my spine. I edged closer to the door of the house that opened to the garden and pressed my ear against it. "We will let her go if you give her to us." The voice was commanding and sounded like an alpha to me. "I will never give her to you. She is mine and you will never be able to take her away from me. Just put her down we can sort something out if you let her go." It was Greyson talking to the mysterious man.
My mind felt invaded and I knew someone was trying to either link with me or the whole pack. "I want the warrior wolves out front now. Make it subtle. Everyone else go to your rooms and lock your doors. Do not come out till I say it is clear." It was Greyson linking the whole pack. He barely ever does this, it must be serious. I gulp before quietly heading upstairs to our room. Greyson and I's room overlooked the garden and entrance of the house for obvious reasons which gave me opportunity to see who the intruder was.
I looked out the window to see a older man quite broad holding a girl around my age from her shoulders so she could not get away. Greyson looked furious tearing the man down. But he wasn't here alone. There where about ten others with him all very masculine. I assume they are some of his warrior wolves. From the corner of my eye I see some of our best warriors edging in from the side in the bushes. Some had arrows while others were ready to shift.
A simple clap from Greyson was all it took for our warriors to come out of the shadows and attack the intruders. Arrows wee flying about while some had shifted into there wolves and were attacking the other warriors. We had taken our pack member from the alphas grasp but he was already fleeing the scene. Four of his warriors had died before the rest gave up and ran into the darkness of the first surrounding our pack. I could see Greyson fuming as he ran back inside telling everyone through the link to stay in there rooms for a few more minutes to make sure everything was clear. Our warriors were still outside on high alert making sure they were not going to come back.
I opened my door and walked downstairs to meet Greyson. "Who was that." I said getting straight to the point. "Jim." Was his short response. Jim? Where had I heard that before? I thought for a few seconds before it clicked. Jim from shimmer moon. I said to myself. Shuddering at the thought. I went over there short conversation I heard in my head.
"We will let her go if you give her to us." "I will never give her to you. She's mine." They were walking about me.
Well shit.
