"Hey!" I jumped on my startled friends shoulders.
"Don't scare me like that!" was their reply. I laughed and sat down on the shockingly freezing bench. "Shit!" I exclaimed.
"Oh yeah it's cold," Sam kindly informed me, "Here take my jacket." I gave Sam a strange look. "Whyy?" I asked suspiciously, "What have you done to it?"
"Nothing I swear. Geez I can't give you a nice gesture without you pulling out the X-ray scanner and lie detector." Since when does Sam do nice things? I thought doubtfully. I ended up taking the jacket after some convincing. The whole ordeal was just really strange and awkward. We needed a change of subject. "Guess what?!" I said suddenly. Sam looked at me questionably and I launched into a somewhat exaggerated retelling of the events in maths. "So we're basically on second base now right?" I finished in exasperation. Sam had somehow kept a straight face during my dramatic story but now that I was silent the pressure must have been too much. I rolled my eyes, waiting for Sam to Finish the laughing fit. "Luce, asking for the time does not mean he likes you!"
"No need to be so negative! He could have asked anyone around but he asked me. Even though Susan was sitting two seats away from him. Let me remind you that Susan is the most eligible girl in the grade!"
"Mkay.... Luce, I'm your best friend right?" I nodded and folded my arms. "Right well let me tell you that... You have absolutely no chance with Marchel. I mean he hardly knows you exist," Sam had a look of slight concern. "What?" I was taken aback by my friends matter-of-fact speaking. Since when did Sam make sense? And aren't best friends supposed to support your crush no matter how irrational? Thoughts like 'you have no chance' are ment to come from my head not my friends mouth. This is too weird I thought. "I forgot I had to hand in a permission slip," I quickly stood, fumbling to hand Sam's jacket back to them. "Bye," I called. I think I heard a call from Sam but I ignored it, heading towards the office. I veered to the left at the last minute and walked aimlessly for the rest of the lunch.I HAD A BRAIN WAVE AND I HAVE A PLOT TWIST PLANNED OMG OMG OMG THIS IS BIG I'M SO EXCITED FOR IT I CAN'T WAIT TO REVEAL IT I CAN'T WAIT AAAHHHHH!!
