Luce's POV
Sam's reaction to my question had not been what I'd expected. I'd gone through at least twenty different outcomes, one of which had ended with a passionate kiss. I brushed that away quickly. I didn't like Sam. I mean, we'd been best friends since year three. I still vividly remember the moment I had nervously shuffled into my new classroom. The teacher introduced me. After some gentle prompting, I had told the class that I had a dog named Carmen. The only empty seat was next to a shy looking kid who was biting there fingers. And that was were it began. We were quiet at first but then I noticed some sticky notes on the desk of this strange child next to me. I peered at them somewhat discreetly. They were drawings of hair. For some reason my 8 year old mind thought this was so cool. I inquired about the drawings and Sam asked if they could braid my hair so I agreed. We'd been inseparable ever since. The thought of actually LIKE liking the person who knew me so well, too well probably, had never even crossed my mind. Although I did get a pang of jealousy whenever I saw Sam having fun with someone else. But that was just a protective best friend thing. Right? I was confused. I needed a break. A break from life. Today had been exhausting. Three different impromptu quizzes. Two of which I was pretty sure I had failed. I mean how do you even spell? One word is overly complicated and the next is to simple to be true. What even is the English language? MAKE UP YOUR MIND! I was tired. My bed was beckoning me. Sleep was what I needed. A good night's sleep.
'Good luck with that Luce'

I wanted to put a little background story In. I was going to do this chapter in Sam's POV but I decided against it because I had to remind myself who the protagonist is. But who knows? There may be another bit in Sam's POV again. Maybe in a CERTAIN chapter I've been planning😉...
