Chapter 5

"Mason, what the fuck?" I asked as he pulled up outside some modern looking, two story typical American house. We had just spent the last ten minutes driving in complete awkward silence as he tried to make petty conversation and not come off as a dickhead.

It proved to be a massive challenge for him.

"I told you I'm skipping the party." He shrugged taking the keys out of the ignition and shooting me a dazzling smile, "So I bought you to my house instead."

My eyes widened as I furiously shook my head, "If you think that I am going to have sex with you Mason you're dead wrong."

"Dang, just when I thought I could get it with a good girl." He smirked leaning over and placing a hand on my thigh.

"You are an absolute pig." I muttered beginning to undo my seatbelt and open the door prepared to walk all the way home.

"Babe, wait! I was joking, honestly that's not the reason I bought you here, bible." He exclaimed leaning over and pulling my door shut again his beautiful eyes wide and regretful.

"Then why am I here?" I asked raising an eyebrow at him.

"I don't know to be quite honest." He admitted his cheeks blushing slightly as he ran his hands awkwardly through his hair, "I never try to show a girl my good side so I'm quite stumped on what to do with you."

"Pig." I repeated shoving his hand away and stepping out of the car the icy evenings air whipping against my bare arms. What kind of guy never shows a girl his good side?

Oh that's right, its Mason, should I really have expected anything different?

"Bella!" He cried slamming his door shut, "You have to give me points for trying, right?"

I let out a long frustrated sigh, "I suppose so." I muttered wrapping my arms around my shoulders that started to shake from the chill in the air.

"At least come inside its freezing out here, I promise I wont try anything." He begged with a small smile nodding towards his house.

"Fine." I mumbled following him as we walked up the front steps to his house.

"Isn't it a bit early to meet the parents?" I said sarcastically as he searched his jacket pocket for his keys.

"Funny." He said with a roll of his eyes, "But sorry to disappoint you love, I live alone."

He swung open the doors and I was met with classic modern day American décor. Paneled white walls with timber flooring paired with pretty paintings and photographs hung upon the walls.

"Cute." I said slinging my backpack off my shoulder and dropping it near the door, "Why do you live alone?" I queried.

His expression darkened as he ran his hands through his hair and stared intensely at the ground, "Eh." He shrugged before gesturing me to enter his living room.

I decided to drop the subject seeing that he wasn't exactly comfortable. I couldn't help but wonder why he was so shady about it and why in the hell he decided that living alone at seventeen was a perfectly rational and logical idea.

"So." He said awkwardly taking a seat next to me on his plush, extremely comfortable, cream coloured sofa.

"So." I mimicked him with a smirk causing him to roll his eyes and shove me slightly. I giggled studying his ever-changing expression trying to decipher what he was thinking about, maybe there is more to Mason than I thought. I mean what popular guy decides to drop his reputation for one night to hang out with a complete nobody.
