“Your late.” I muttered as Mason strolled into the library his hands shoved in his pockets and his mouth lazily chewing a piece of gum.
He shot me a breath-taking grin before shrugging and saying, “I told you I’d try hard not to be on time.”
I rolled my eyes, “Obviously not hard enough.” I grumbled before shoving him a pile of books.
He stared at them blankly, “What am I supposed to do with these?” He asked idiotically.
“Take notes.” I said before returning to my book to read.
About 10 minutes into our note-taking session I started to feel uncomfortable and looked up to find Mason’s intriguing eyes staring straight at me. “What are you looking at?” I murmured.
He tore his gaze away from mine, “Nothing.” He snapped running his hands through his hair.
“Whatever.” I grumbled annoyed at his sudden mood swings. He sighed and took of his jacket, I couldn’t help but stare at how his muscles flexed under his t-shirt as he moved. He must work out 394348 times a day to look that amazing. Like honestly, how is it possible for someone to look that hot?
“See something you like?” He winked a smirk appearing on his perfect lips.
I blushed furiously shoving my face in the book, “No.” I lied refusing to look at him.
“You’re lying.” He said his captivating voice filling my ears making me shiver.
“I am not!” I denied. I could feel the anger rising inside me, why’d he have to be such a jerk?
“Sure babe, whatever you say.” He chuckled mesmerizingly. Babe? I felt my heart clench at that word. He called me babe! I didn’t know what emotion to feel, happy, angry, confused. I looked up at him his eyes locking with mine, I froze for a second staring into his beautiful brown orbs feeling myself get lost in his gaze. They were so attractive, I couldn’t help but melt at his intense stare.
“You’re confusing.” I murmured forcing myself to tear my gaze away from his. Seriously one minute I’m furious at him then all he has to do is look at me and all the furiousness inside me vanishes, it’s not fair!
“Oh, am I?” He asks thoughtfully the amusement clearly evident in his tone. I rolled my eyes and began writing out some more notes. Out of nowhere I feel his hand land on top of mine, my eyes snap up in shock to look at him. “You never answered me question.” He stated plucking the pen out of my hand his palm gently brushing against mine.
“I-I” I stammered loosing my train of thought. What is he doing? I let out a frustrated sigh realizing he was probably just messing with me. I went to grab the pen off of him but he held it out of my reach, “Mason.” I hissed, “Give it back.”
“No can do Isabella.” He sang cheekily biting his bottom lip attractively.
Isabella? Nobody calls me that It’s always been Bella. “Don’t be a dickhead.” I muttered smacking him in his rock-hard chest.
He did a double take, “Me? A dickhead?” He scoffed seeming highly offended.
“You are.” I said bluntly.
His expression morphed into a glare, “I’ll have you know I’m one of the nicest people.” He snapped.
I couldn’t help but laugh, he was joking right? His expression narrowed even further and his lips were pressed into a thin line as if he was restraining himself from saying something. He looked hot when he was angry. “You weren’t nice to me yesterday, I mean just ditching me to go hang with your friends. I sat here reading for ages.” I mumbled letting out a long sigh.
Mason’s expression softened, “That’s because I have a reputation to uphold.” He said twirling the pen around in his hand. “I’m not actually a bad guy.”
I caught his gaze and a burst of confidence rocketed through me as I said spontaneously, “Convince me.”
A small smirk appeared on his lips, “Deal.” He whispered as he lent over the table and grasped my tiny hand in his, he slowly placed the pen back into my palm never breaking my gaze driving me crazy before sitting back in his chair with a triumphant fold of his arms.
“It’ll take more than that.”’ I said almost breathless, the effect he had on me was phenomenal.
“Hey, give me time!” He chuckled holding his hands up defensively.
I smiled slightly, let’s see if the bad boy can turn out to be a sweetheart.
We studied for another hour and surprisingly he stayed and he wasn’t a dickhead.
“Well I have to go.” I said closing the book I was reading and grabbing my backpack, “I’ll bet you have to go have some alone time with your girlfriend.” I shook my head at the thought of it, what did he see in her?
Mason stared at me an unreadable expression on his beautiful features, “Yeah I do. Another party to attend as well.” He said getting up and flexing his biceps, I couldn’t help but sneak a glance. He caught me gazing and smirked stretching his hands in the hair making the front of his T-shirt lift up slightly giving me a perfect view of his abs.
“You tease.” I laughed rolling my eyes he was a piece of work alright.
He stuck his tongue out at me cheekily, “You seem pretty cool Isabella.” He said casually as he hitched his bag over his broad shoulders.
“It’s Bella.” I corrected pushing in my chair and walking beside him as we headed out of the library.
“I prefer Isabella.”
I just shook my head, “Won’t hanging with me ruin your reputation?” I asked softly raising an eyebrow at him.
“Yes.” He shrugged, “But who says they have to know.” He said before walking off ahead of me leaving me standing there with shock written all over my face. What does that mean?
I ran after him tugging on the sleeve of his jacket making him turn around and face me with a cute smile, “What?” I said astonished.
“Oh nothing.” He said refusing to meet my gaze, “Well I better go get drunk and high at this party.” A frown escaped its way onto his face as he shifted awkwardly from foot to foot.
“Don’t go.” I said.
He looked up at me, “It’s not that easy.”
“It is.”
He sighed seeming frustrated, “You wouldn’t know you don’t have a bunch of people awaiting your arrival.”
“Yeah, sorry I’m not Miss Popular.” I grumbled before turning on my heel and walking away.
I felt his hand grab my wrist as he forcefully spun me around, “I didn’t mean it like that.” He said intensely staring at me, “I just meant, its nice being Mr Popular but sometimes I don’t want to get so drunk I can’t recall a single thing I did the next morning.”
I sighed, “Mason I don’t feel sorry for you.” I stated folding my arms my hair blowing in the evening’s air.
“Well you’re annoyingly honest.” He chuckled, “I guess I’m not convincing you I’m a nice guy that well.”
“Yeah you’re not off to a good start.” I said looking around the empty parking lot lit up by the beautiful orange and purple sunset.
“Let me make it up to you then.” He said intertwining his fingers with mine, my eyes snapped over to him and watched dumbfounded as he pulled me over to his car.
“H-How?” I asked quietly.
“Let’s just say, I’m skipping the party.” He said with a cheeky grin.
Where was he taking me?
