I was happy to see Destiny in the room when I arrived. She was in the same shape as I was. I flopped onto the couch she was sitting on.

"I almost died," Destiny said, "But she missed my throat and lost her grip on the knife. I knew it was unfair, but I killed her anyway. And all for nothing. He's going to pick you. He's going to let me and my baby abused by those other men."

"I..." I faltered, "I don't know what to do."

"It's not your fault. It's his."

"I wish there was some way I could help you. Honestly, you're about the third friend I've had in my life. I used to be a librarian. No joke."

"I used to be a waitress. I was almost broke but I was... I was engaged."

"I'm so sorry. You must have been so devastated when you found out you were pregnant."

"I was," she sobbed, "But he didn't care. He didn't care that I was raped and that I had another man's child. He still wanted to marry me."

"He must have been a good man."

Our gazes lifted to see River standing in the doorway. He smirked at both of us.

"Ladies, you're in luck. After hearing that speech, you will both be living with me. But Destiny, you will not be my wife, you will be Caleb's. Caroline, we won't have a wedding but we'll have a wedding night."

"What? Why? Can't you just call some blond over and have her blow you?" I whined, "I'm pregnant."

"I'm going to pretend you didn't say that. Both of you are going to have two weeks to rest. Then you, Destiny, will belong to Caleb."

His striking gray eyes then rested on mine, "You belong to me. You are mine."

We were sent to the doctor's room and our wounds were taken care of. We had our first check up since being there. Four months along and Destiny was six. We were going to be okay. Everything looked normal. I asked the doctor not to tell me the sex of the baby. I wanted it to be a surprise.
