Chapter 6: Jack the Monster.
-
Kitty broke away from Bobby's kiss, her cheeks feeling hot. He blinked up at her under his crown of eyelashes. 'Whut' was that for?' She whispered.
'For you.' He replied, pushing his hair from his eyes. He blinked softly at Kitty, and it made Kitty's heart flutter.
'Why?' Kitty asked, backing away. She was so unsure and confused. Bobby had always been her best friend, nothing more, nothing less. She didn't think much of Bobby other than her best friend in the whole world. Not some - love interest. Not a boyfriend, not her true love. She didn't really want any connections like this. She wasn't interested. But when Bobby kissed her - she wasn't so sure. She was so confused. Her feet skidded along the cobble as she ducked down the street. She headed in the abyss of the unknown, delving into the darkness of night-time New York.

Anastasia was pulled backwards from Leo's arms. She swung back on her legs, her body surging towards the concrete. Someone pulled her up before she came in contact, heaving her away from Leo. Anastasia was in a state of shock, she didn't really remember much of the fight. Only small fragments. Spot had a hold of her arms as Jack repeatedly punched and walloped Leo. He swung at his eyes, smashing his knuckles into his jaw. He tucked at his rib. You could make out the bone snapping. Leo let out cries of pain as Anastasia fought her bounds.
"STOP IT JACK!' She screamed. She was practically throwing herself at Leo, Spot's hands restraining her from the fight. "JACK YOU MONSTER STOP IT!' She squealed. Her throat was red raw from squealing, and she began to sob hopelessly. Her heart was melting in her chest, her emotions running wild. She'd never felt so much hurt. She was drowning in her own tears. "JACK!'
Leo hit the ground with his knees, his hands coming out to catch him. He coughed up dark blood, that pulled near his hands. He lurched, his body heaving. Anastasia's cheeks stung hot with tears. White pain flooded her mind, she gripped the concrete. She was dying inside. Spot knelt down next to her, rubbing her back. 'GET OFF ME!' Anastasia cried, crawling away. Jack was breathing heavily, rubbing his red hands.
Anastasia hobbled over to Leo, sobbing to herself. She gripped Leo, rolling him onto his back, gripping his swollen head. She tucked into into her lap, whispering down to him. "It's gonna be okay, you're gonna be okay.' She repeated, tears shattering every word.
'I'm so-sorry.' Jack whimpered. A look of shock had spread all over his face, he trembled with every part of him. 'S-Sorry.' He held back tears, gulping in air. Spot rose to his feet, removing his hat. He ruffled his hair, shaking his head.
'You beat him to a pulp.' He chewed his lip, glancing to Jack. Jack felt guilty already, he didn't need Spot rubbing it in. 'He's dyin' Jack.' Spot mumbled.
Jack nodded, still in disbelief. 'I'll go - go - get help.' He said. Anastasia was screaming in pain as she held the unconscious Leo, who was bleeding in her arms. Spot leaned down, checking a pulse. Leo's heart was beating pathetically, but at least he was alive.
'HURRY JACK!' Spot ordered. And with that, Jack leaped down the flight of stairs, running to get help.

Eliza Banks had never felt anything softer than the pillows she laid on. Her head was pressed into fluffy cushions, and her mind was at ease. She felt numb from the chest down, a looming, pressing feeling lay over her. She opened her weak eyes, staring around the remotely dark room. Her eyes glanced to the white clock that sat next to her bed. It was eleven o'clock at night. It didn't feel like it. Eliza felt awake and alive. Little did she know that she was almost at death's door a few hours earlier. Eliza didn't really have much of memory. She remembered going down to the docks, meeting a few Newsies. A whole lot of pain, and then she woke up here. And that was it. Nothing else.
A fat woman entered her room. She was wearing a grey dress with a white apron. She fluttered around her room for a moment. Picking up blankets that Eliza had clearly kicked off. She folded them up in her arms, she then placed them on a table, patting down the crinkles in the silky white cloth.
'Hello?' Eliza whispered, sitting up on her elbows. Pain shot up her chest, igniting small fires all over her body, burning in her joints and stinging her muscles. She narrowed her eyes at the small, fat woman, who turned to look at Eliza.
'Oh - Good morning dear.' She smiled warmly. Eliza felt her heart ache with loneliness, she wanted a cozy hug from this chubby woman. But she restrained herself, biting her lip. 'How was your sleep?' She asked.
Eliza nodded in reply, not really sure of how she felt about her sleep. She liked it - but she felt like she'd be drugged. Like she'd been blocked out from the outside world. She felt odd. She definitely didn't like it.
'Okay.' Eliza mumbled. 'What happened?' She asked, bringing herself up on her butt bones, sitting up. Although it brought her pain, she needed to sit up.
'Uh - .. You don't remember?' The maid asked. Eliza shook her head.
'You were stabbed.' The woman said, frowning.

Celeste was flirted with almost every boy who walked through that door. Clancy was on to her like lightning. He zipped in and sat next to her, touching her, flirting with her. It was awful. Celeste hated it. She hated all the attention, she wanted to be left alone. William offered her a bunk, and she happily climbed into it. She kept to herself for the rest of the night, but listened to William speak with the rest of the boys.
'Dat' your new girly Will?' Clancy chuckled. 'Because Anastasia turned ya' down?' He laughed. A few others joined in laughing, but William merely shook them off with a frown.
'She's got a sick brudda', not to mention she's caught up with Jonnah Delancey, so lay off!.' He said. That shut them all up.
'Oliver and Morris's big brother?' Davey asked. William nodded.
'He's having his way with her.' He frowned. Clancy snickered to himself, nudging a boy next to him. They both began to laugh, elbowing each other in the ribs. 'QUIT IT YOU TWO!' He yelled at them. Celeste's heart leaped from her chest, scaring the life out of her. She gripped her thumping body, feeling her heart beat hard. She took a deep breath, sitting up. All eyes turned to her. She glanced at the group of boys, her cheeks glowing red.
'I thought - you were asleep.' William said, clearly embarrassed.
'You thought wrong.' Celeste snarled. She was furious.
:)) Enjoy!
