It was the fifth day after the death of Baba and she was slowly getting courage to move on. Some of their relatives visited the unfortunate house and then left away without thinking for once that where that young lady would go. No one was concerned for her solitude but there was someone whose voice echoed in the driveway mostly inquiring for her health and condition.

Not for a single time that disembodied voice pierced the silence of her room and she just used to close her eyes when Sajida told her that Irtiza sent the anti depressant tablets for her. It was another day when maid knocked on her door. Sataish knew that wooden piece was not fortunate enough to have the knuckles of any other person except her so she permitted.

"Madam, you have not taken any single morsel since yesterday. Please have something." Looking at the shattered lady wearing a pale yellow dress Sajida said.

"I have told you that I do not need it." In a loud voice Sataish replied.

"I am sorry." Resting her head on the bed crown she sighed.

"Madam, I have to go also. My children are on the mercy of their stepmother. If you would not take care of yourself then how come I would be going?" Sajida was helpless.

"I am fine. You can go now. I am not a kid anymore. Yes, I have lost something very precious but trust me it was not in my hands otherwise I would have died in his place." Tears were moving noiselessly on her face.

Sajida looked at the back and his concerned face appeared blinking several times while looking at the tiles from the gap created by the door.

"Madam, if it is what that you want then I am going. Please eat something. I have made food." Sajida said while nodding at him in disapproval.

Exiting the door Sajida was asked to place the food at the dining table and she helplessly abided by his order.

He knocked again and her agitated voice erupted.

"For God's sake leave me. I will eat something if I want."

She was staring at the indigo coloured curtains when for an instant she felt as if the pains had vanished, if the birds started chirping again, if the rainbow had decorated the corners of the sky again. She smiled with her eyes welling up again.

"It has not over yet." Tilting her head to her right shoulder Sataish mumbled.

"It will when you move out." He said and she turned being all flabbergasted.

Seeing him after a long passage of time that was merely a few days but deep as the oceans was something that demanded her to break all the dams and she did. The cold breeze was filling her room and the wetness of her face was reminding him of the promise he had made to the dying father.

"Everyone has gone." Her voice breaking with the sore throat she cried.

"Nobody cares that how I would be living. I needed their support and what they did. I had my parents only and today I learnt this lesson. This room is haunting me. I am afraid. See, how the time goes. Sajida has gone also." Burying her head in the hands she said.

Irtiza changed his position on the couch and twisted his fingers while interlacing them.

"Why are you not eating anything?" A different reply resonated at her eardrums.

"I do not want it." Managing the dopatta on her head she said.

"I am waiting at the dining table." Crossing the entrance he looked at her and then went away with the staircase trying to tell her that he actually did.

She lifted her eyes and looked at the closed door and then thought of the man who had just said something. Sighing a heavy breath she got up and went to refresh herself.

....

He slid rice in her plate and she just looked at the smoke erupting from them and a weak smile touched her lips.

"It is more than enough. I cannot eat this much." Speaking while staring at the plate she said.

"Binge eating would do for you. You have lost a great deal of weight and this is not good." In a very professional tone he said and she just looked at him confusedly and then at herself.

"Yes, it is." He said and she shrugged her shoulders.

"I have to start office from Monday." She said in a low tone.

"Very good. Go for it." He smiled at her and she felt as if her heart stopped.

She reciprocated him and recovered.

"I need to talk you on something really important, Ms. Sataish." He flexed his face muscles.

"Yes." She looked at him.

"After you eat these last ones." Pointing at the rice in her plate he said and she reluctantly stirred them.
