Colin's POV
When I arrived at my flat, I went to the pantry and put new food and water for Penny in her bowls. Walking into my bedroom, I noticed Penny laying next to my closet. I squatted on the floor and called her over.
"Penny, come here darling," I smiled at the black munchkin cat.
She purred but didn't move.
"You are lazy, aren't you?"
I got up and made my way to the kitchen to make a bowl of cereal. I gathered both of the ingredients and started eating. The only thing I could think about was Eva and the amazing conversation we had last night. I've known her for about a month and I trusted her with my deepest feelings. It just goes to show how much we connect. But the age difference does concern me. With me and Livia, it was only a six year difference. But the difference between Eva and I is more than... 30 years! I hadn't counted it before but now that I had, it really concerned me. Why do I have feelings for a girl that could be my daughter? I cringed at that last thought.
I started thinking about the future-which usually gets me in trouble. When I think about the future, I think about every possible situation that could occur. What if I started to fall in love with Eva?! A 55 year old man with a 19 year old girl?! The university would never respect either of us ever again. What was I going to tell Eva? Should I break off what amazing fun we've been having? It would break my heart to let her go. She has shined a light on the lonely, boring life I live. Even though I've only known her for a few weeks, I feel as if I've known her my whole life.
And the worst part is.
I know Livia would approve of Eva.
