Eva's POV
It has only been one week since school started and I thought I wasn't going to be prepared for college but I'm actually doing quite well. The only class I really had trouble in was law- and I wanted to become a lawyer! I realized that I needed to ask for help before I failed the upcoming test. One day, I stayed back after class to talk to Mr. Firth.
"Mr. Firth, I'm having some problems understanding the concept of The Chip Smith Law."
Mr. Firth turned around to face me and nodded.
"In civil and criminal cases, a lot of times there is a majority vote in the jury. The chip smith law is a law that urges those jurors who disagree with the majority vote to reexamine the majority views in an effort to reach a unanimous verdict."
It had made sense to me and it only took two British sentences.
"Thank you, that really clears it up," I spoke and he nodded.
Over the next week or so, I kept asking him questions about things I didn't understand. He made me feel so comfortable and I started to understand things more clearly. He even helped me study for the test the day before. We made flash cards and studied until it was dark. At one point, we got hungry and decided to go to his place for dinner.
"Would you like to come by my place for some spaghetti?" He smiled.
I didn't know what to say or expect so I just went for it.
"Sure, what's better than an Englishman making you some spaghetti?" We smiled together. He put his papers in his briefcase and we started making our way to his green Mini Cooper I had complimented yesterday. I chucked watching him being at least six feet tall and trying to get into his tiny car. We started driving and the silence was too awkward to bear which prompted me to turn on the radio. To my surprise, It started playing punk rock music. I laughed out loud and glanced at Mr. Firth who was blushing and focusing on the road. The radio started playing "Welcome To The Jungle" by Guns n' Roses which I knew all the lyrics of. I started singing and Mr. Firth joined me at the chorus. In no time, we reached his apartment. He unlocked the door and let me in first. It was an incredibly nice apartment. It didn't seem like a professor could earn enough money to buy this pretty of an apartment. As if he was reading my mind, he said, "My dad owns a big business," as he took off his jacket and shoes.
"Please," he said gesturing to his living room, "Make yourself comfortable."
I nodded and walked over to the living room, sitting down on the beautiful white couch. I heard him in the kitchen and decided to join him. I walked in and he was filling up a pot with water. The pantry door was open and I searched inside for the spaghetti. Finally finding it, I started to hear some music coming out of a speaker. It was a beautiful rendition of "You Do Something To Me" by Frank Sinatra. I smiled seeing Mr. Firth start dancing.
"May I have this dance?" He asked me with his hand out.
I giggled and nodded. We began ballroom dancing to the soothing sounds of Frank Sinatra. In this moment, I realized that this was the feeling my friends were describing when they talked about boys. Both of us looking into the other's eyes. We were in a trance until I noticed the stove. Mr. Firth had put the pot of water on the stove and it was currently overflowing. I pointed, flustered. He looked at it and started chuckling, then laughing. I joined him but then grabbed a towel to clean up the water on the floor. He got some more towels out of a closet and got on the floor to help. We both thought it was pretty comical but decided to just eat some ice cream in the end. We didn't have the effort to make pasta anymore. We moved to the living room with our ice cream and decided to watch a movie. It was the new Captain America movie I had wanted to see. We kept eating ice cream and eventually fell asleep.
The morning after, we woke up and realized the time so we got dressed and headed out the door. We made it to campus in 10 minutes and went our separate ways.
