A couple days have passed and nothing has changed. Grahm's vitals remained stable and the nurses sounded encouraged by this. I'd spent every waking moment here except for the few measly minutes i was away getting clothes or food other than hospital food. I slept in the same chair by his bed every night.
It was just past midnight when a loud beeping woke me up. The machines attached to my brother were beeping loudly bringing in nurses from outside. They hurried me out while they worked to stabilize my brother.
"Where are you taking him?!" i yelled as the nurses brought my brother out of the room. "Where are you taking him?!"
"He's going into surgery," a voice said behind me. it was the same doctor as before. "A clot broke off, we have to hurry." He raced off after my brother without another room. I collapsed in a chair sobbing.
The surgery was short and my brother was returned to his room. He was now attached to a respirator, it was breathing for him. I found the doctor and asked what was going on.
"He's in a coma," the doctor said solemnly. "There is no way of knowing when or if he will wake up."
"If?" I gasped.
"There is a strong possibility of him never waking up." He put a gentle hand on my shoulder but i didn't even notice it. My heart ached, my chest tightened, and tears threatened to fall as i stared at my brother. He could have passed as sleeping were it not for the large tube coming from his mouth.
I can't stay here. I wiped my dry face and turned away from my brother, leaving the hospital all together. I pushed open the door and i just ran, i raced through the streets dodging people as i ran, and ran, and ran.
I fell to my knees in front of some building in the who knows where. The rain had started falling around me drowning out my sobs. I wrapped my arms around myself trying to keep warm and stop shaking but i was frozen to the core. My knees burned where the rain pooled around them, they were cut up and bleeding.
"You should get out of the rain!" a voice yelled over the drumming of the rain.
I looked over at the voice, it was an elderly man with white hair. He wore the collar of the priest making the building he stood in a church. I didn't know where I was.
"I- I don't know where I am," i admitted as he came over to me holding an umbrella over both of us. My eyes were burning with tears, my throat raw.
"Come inside child," the Father said holding out a hand to me. "Warm up while the rain passes." I took his hand pulling myself up slowly. He guided me inside and put me in a pew, draping a blanket over my shoulders.
"You've been crying," the Father said looking at me. I nodded a little licking my lips. "What's wrong?"
"My- my brother," i said my voice cracking. "He's in the hospital, he's in a coma, they say he may not wake up."
The Father put a gentle hand on my shoulder as more tears fell. "Pray child, God will help you." He stood and left then leaving me alone in this large room.
I haven't been in a church in years. I felt so small in here, i always have. I looked around at all the stained glass and beautiful statues.
"Hi," i breathed looking up. "I haven't done this in years." I shook my head feeling really stupid. "Okay," i said swallowing hard and closing my eyes. "Whoever is listening whoever can help me, please. My brother- i can't loose him too. I will do anything, anything to make sure he wakes up from this. Please, please help him."
Taking a deep breath i opened my eyes wiping my face. A man was standing in front of me now. Tall and strong wearing a black suit and a red tie. He had the clearest blue eyes i have ever seen and a smirk on his stubbled face.
"Hello Emerson," he said, his voice deep and seductive. How did he know me name?
