That book became my life when I wasn't with Grahm. I read and studied every single page, every word, every punctuation. Some of it was written in Greek, some in Roman. It was incredible what i could do now, I could easily read the inscription of both ancient languages without missing a beat, if i read aloud the words from the book things would happen. Fire and ice were now under my control, I felt invincible.
"Hello Emerson," Aidon's voice rang late one night, or was it early morning... i could no longer tell the difference.
"Hello," i said. He no longer scared me with what he could do, i only wanted to learn more.
"I see you are a fast learner." I smirked and stood to face him. "You are already strong."
"Thank you," i smiled. He looked at the edge of the bed then back at me. I nodded and he sat down. Today he wore a gray suit with a blue tie, his eyes even more striking than before.
"So shall we discuss our arrangement?"
"Oh," i said. "Yeah that'd be nice." I pulled a chair over and sat in that facing him, waiting.
"I need you to do my biding," he said calmly. "Six months here in the real world, going where i tell you to help friends of mine. The rest spent with me in my Kingdom learning the ways of the Kingdom."
"What about Per-"
His hand snapped up before i could finish the name, silencing me. "Please don't say her name, she'll think it's and invitation to show up." I nodded not finishing the sentence. "She still lives with me though I wish she did not." He pinched the bridge of his nose. "She has her own castle so she will not be bothering us, hopefully."
"You built her, her own castle?"
He scoffed at me, "You would too if you'd been with her as long as I have." I smiled a little.
"So when and where do we start?" Him being Hades still freaked me out, but what he gave me, the power he gave me was incredible. I was in awe of all of it.
"You need training so we will start in my kingdom, but i will not pull you away from your brother. You obviously care about him or you wouldn't be in this situation." I nodded and jumped to my feet when i heard a thud and i groan.
I put a warning hand up to Aidon as i hurried to Grahm's room. He had fallen out of bed and he was mumbling something.
"Wow," i laughed. I walked over to him and detangled his blankets from his legs. "Jesus!" I yelled when I realized he was naked.
"You weren't paying attention," Grahm laughed. "I tried to warn you." I smacked his arm laughing. I helped him back to bed.
"Next time scream at me," i laughed.
"Oh don't worry I will." I rolled my eyes shaking my head.
"Tomorrow I gotta talk to you, a serious adult conversation."
"But i don't like those." I waved him off shutting the door. I went back to my room and Aidon was looking at my photo's.
"Sorry to intrude," he said backing away.
"Don't worry about it." I looked at the picture he stopped at. "God this feels like ages ago."
"How long ago was it?"
"Four months ago," i breathed. I shook my head and closed the book. "It's done now, just gotta focus on now." That was when i saw the hospital bill. "And starting with this bill."
"You will be paid," Aidon said. "I cant take you away for six months without paying you." I laughed.
"It will be years before we get out of debt."
"Work for free the first year and i will get rid of that debt." I spun around so fast I fell over the chair.
"Are you serious?" I gasped my heart racing.
"Deadly." He smirked at the joke. "Being thousands of years old has its perks." I laughed and he smiled extending a hand. "Deal?"
"See last time i shook your hand my arm was practically worthless for a day at least."
He laughed. "No pain just a shake." I smiled and took his hand. A gentle shake, no pain.
"See?" He laughed at me. I smiled and nodded.
"Am I supposed to be working for you forever?" The question had stuck in my head. It was digging at me to know the answer.
For the first time since i had met him he seemed at a loss for words. He opened his mouth then closed it again rethinking over his words. "We will see," was the answer he gave to me.
"You seem unsure of your answer?" He set his jaw repeating himself more confidently. I didnt question him about it again.
"I must be going, keep practicing." He stood then and stepped out once more to disappear. I shook my head at the encounter.
Aidons POV
Dieter was waiting for me when i came back. I sighed in annoyance and sat in my chair.
"Have you told her the details?" He asked handing me a wine glass.
"My details," I sighed. "Let us see if she can handle it before we go over board."
"That is what you said about Perry." Perry was his nickname for Persephone.
I slammed my hand down on the desk, papers flew and thunder cracked. "Enough Dieter!" I yelled. He stumbled back away from me. "Stop challenging every word that comes out of my mouth."
"Y-yes your highness," he stuttered.
"Send a letter to my brothers telling them the details of Emerson. Tell them I have a good feeling about her." Dieter nodded and hurried out of my office. I leaned back in the chair staring at the arched ceiling.
"Oh Hades!" A high pitched voice sang outside my door. I groaned but got up to open the door. Perry.
"Yes Persephone?" I sighed blocking the doorway. If i blocked her out she might not come in.
"I need more servants," she said flipping her pitch black hair over her shoulder. "The last few have been slacking and everything looks so dark and dreary."
"We live in the underworld what do you expect?" She shot me a glare and i sighed leaning my head against the door. "I will send ten more to you by the end of the day." She smiled a wide guarded smile at me and gently patted my cheek like a child. She turned on her heel and left, the clicks of her heels retreating.
I hit my head against the door a few times before going back to my chair.
One more week.
